Democrat VA gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe just added this to his website:
In essence, what he wants is almost exactly the measures that got passed in Colorado (and faced a huge voter backlash). I'd like to say this proves they never get it, but right now, this @$$%&!? is leading in the polls. Problem is we've got the urban poor in Hampton Roads and Richmond who vote as a bloc for Democrats, and the limousine liberals around the DC area dragging the state leftward, and they're going to vote for this clown come hell or high water. There's nothing "common sense" about this legislation; it won't have any effect on crime, except maybe to drive it upward.
He's all too likely to be our next governor. We have to get the word out, and maybe, just maybe his stance on this issue, being unpopular as it is, will cost him. If you live in Virginia, start spreading the word that if McAuliffe gets in the governor's mansion, we're going to see an attempt to push Colorado style gun control laws through the legislature.

As Governor, Terry will support mainstream and majority supported gun control measures like universal background checks, limiting the size of magazines, and a return to the 1-gun-per-month rule. These measures respect Virginians’ right to bear arms while reducing gun violence.
