Holy Cow look at the reserve on this Colt.

Factory engraved Colt's can be ridiculous. Wanna hear something even more asinine? A factory engraved Ruger Single Six is now listed on RugerForum for $8500!

By contrast, I sent my $500 50th anniversary .44Mag Blackhawk off to become an octagon barreled .500JRH, with one-off custom front sight and basepin, along with ivory, 75% coverage engraving and Turnbull finishes and it will cost about half that. I reckon we all have our own ideas on how to spend our money. ;)

They're 3 kinds of people in the world. :uhoh:

Those who have money and would want this particular revolver bad enough to pay the asking price.

Those who enjoy looking but wouldn't touch it with a 10-foot pole, even if they could afford to.

Those who absolutely don't give a rip. ;)

The seller is optimistic. The price is inflated. The seller might just let it sit there for awhile and hope that sooner or later someone will come along and get impatient and buy it at that price cuz they hope someday it'll reach that value.

But that's high even for a factory engraved Python.

Perhaps some of the worst photographs ever. For $8000 you'd expect a little higher resolution.

8 grand....

crappy photos, a whopping 22 "words" of description...

Were this a motorcycle, car or boat I would call this a:

"But Honey... I really did try to sell it!" scenario.

Todd.

Not good pictures, but I don't think that is factory engraving. I have seen a fair number of factory engraved Colts (modern era) and that does not look right.

Also, on a factory engraved gun, I would expect the grips to fit properly.

The engraving on this particular Python really doesn't do anything for me either, especially at that price.

That's not even high for a Colt.

Saw a 2.5", electroless nickel Python, unfired, in original box with factory MOP grips, sell for roughly $20K after a bidding war that lasted most of the night.
And that seller apparently has a lot of consigned high dollar colts on offer from what I remember.

The rib should have been engraved too. I dont think the price is too out of line thou...

The prices some people ask are amusing...but I suppose it's like Dad once said...all you have to do to become a millionare is sell something to a million people for a buck or one person for a million. Just gotta find that one person, I guess!

I've been watching a guy try to sell a .475 Wildey with a 14 inch barrel for over a year now. His salesmanship has been interesting, to say the least, as he's relisted it again and again.

Origionally he had it up for $8,900 starting bid and $9,800 buy it now. After many months with no bites, he started relisting it at a different price: $9,300 starting bid and $11,000 buy it now.

His logic escapes me.

Maybe when he gets to $15,000 I'll buy!

;)

Bad shaky pics, no letter of authenticity, no bids.

No bids means that the gun is not worth that much. But keep an eye on it and if it sells it means someone thinks it is. Unless it's a friend of the seller with a sham bid.

Look at his other items.

This one is "selling" now...

Or this one, a Colt Bijan Revolver, which may actually be worth the price to a collector. One did sell some time back for over $50,000. Note that one is in the NRA Museum.

I once held a Colt revolver in Missouri with an asking price of $45k. It was supposedly originally issued to the 7th Cav and found a few years ago in Canada. It was extremely smooth but I was scared I was going to break it.
