    Shortest shot on a deer?

Missed a nice buck directly under me--well shot holes in his ears--looked funny with light shining through them. The most unusual shot was as I was walking to a stand in an open field. Started over a slight rise and spotted two does about 150' away in the edge of the woods. Squatted down to...

    9mm luger for deer hunting

Please do not do it. Nothing worse than wounding an animal to die slow and painfully. Put it down quickly/humanely with a properly powered round. We raised a fawn that brought home three babies for us to see. I still hunt but make sure the animal goes down quickly. Have a bud near Charleston, SC...

158 gr .357 magnum SD rounds?

Like the XTPs in both. It is my wife's HD and my side arm when hunting. She is getting a 32 S&W long for Christmas--her choice--not mine. Have her 4 boxes of ammo and about 100 cases so she is set to plink her little heart out. Now I can get my 357 back--lol.

Small primer pocket in .45 acp brass

Be sure to mark those sp primed casings. Some use a magic marker on the head. Get them mixed up and you will be crushing LP primers. I have a box or two of them set aside so they do not get mingled. Will be swapping them at some point.

    carrying at your local shop

Ole Yellar, you must be talking about Hyatt's out on Wilkerson. They want to check your firearm to insure it is unloaded. Last time I was there they insisted on checking mine as I was on the way out. Told them to just check me out, let me pay, and they would not see me again. May go back but not...

    .30-30 loads ?

H414 is recommended for 22-250 through 375s. I have several pounds stored as a go to. Used to use Varget for my reserve but traded it for some pistol powder last year.

How are you doing during this shortage?

Learned my lesson earlier and have actually been able to add to my reserve slightly. My rotator cuff injury has been a "boon". Have not been able to shoot much so have been saving components. Just before the "mess" I picked up several K of small rifle and that helped a lot. Just treading water...

Favorite "gun" scene in a movie?

Steve McQueen in the Get Away when he buys the shotgun to exit the town.

Is trying to make your gun "look cool" okay?

Guess the question is--do you want a gun for show or for go? Will it stand harsh treatment-rain, mud, dropped, used as a club or shield? "Cool" may let you down if the going gets tough.

    Blue Dot powder question

Was the seal intact? If so then "Don's" post is spot on. I have about a half 8# jug of Green and Blue. Like the "dots". Also use quite a bit of Red.

    The amazing 357 magnum

It is my hunting partner and sometimes my extra carry.

Gun shop employee who sold gun used at Newtown pleads guilty to paperwork charge

F&F being relevant or not doesn't matter. The gub walks and some minor paper mistake gets publicized forever---and punished to the full extent of the "justice" crowd. Now another has been killed with F&F arms.

Reloaders prespective on a medium bore.

My sons shoot large calibers at $2-$4 per round. I shoot my old reliable '06s that I hand load for at @ .50. There is nothing they can do that I cannot--and w/o that terrible recoil.

Any Reason why two scopes in a row would go bad

Would first suspect alignment, then over tightening, then--it was just time. Have had a Bushnell on a Winchester 100 for 45 years--still clear--still accurate.

Drilling a hole in a safe for power

Hope you are joking about shooting a hole in your safe. Way too many things can go wrong with this. My safe is actually a fire proof horizontal file safe. Weighs about 800#s with 8 1" pins. It sits on a concrete slab with brick walls on either side. Am not too concerned about fire with it. If...
