I, too, listen to NPR. Most of their pieces on guns are negative, BUT I heard a Freakenomics program on risk assessment that started with the risk to children with a gun in the house vs. a pool. Their take? Children are at 100% greater risk of death in a house with a pool.

I've been looking into using my M1A for hunting as well. Not long range like the op, but just run of the mill moose hunting. One of the main changes I'm going to do is install an adjustable gas plug, not for accuracy but to ease the stress on my rifle.

If it was in .45 and took Glock mags I could see myself buying this for $600-650. You should ask a gun dealer how fast a Kel-Tec Sub-2000 that takes Glock mags sell compared to the others.

Even at the height (bottom?) of the ammo drought, 5.7 ammo was available. Funny thing I noticed then, go into a gun store (local or big box) there would be no .22lr in stock, but plenty of .22 guns. All those stores had plenty of 5.7mm, but no 5.7mm guns for sale.:D

Really? I would think anything over 50cm would be a sword, anything shorter would be a big knife.
