Thoughts on the TriStar Viper G2?

I know this post is a month old now, but as a Benelli Supernova owner I can tell you that the rattle is simply managed by tightening up the hex screws on the forearm a bit (but not too much). The Supernova is a great pump shotgun, and I don't know if there is a better one, IMHO. "I think you...

    Ruger 10/22 Target Tactical

Or get the Savage Mark II FV-SR. They are only running about $300 and you get a threaded barrel.

With what to replace my Savage in .243

I would stick with Savage if I liked the bolt. I just hate how stiff it is.

With what to replace my Savage in .243

Elkins, the reason I like the .30-06 is because I can do the heavy round nose bullets, but I can also load it with some slick, far-flying 180's for Nebraska. The 35 Whelen is a nice round, but not for me. Chaser, I have considered that, but in the end after I get the parts and put them...

With what to replace my Savage in .243

Yes, I am leaning towards the .30-06 precisely because I am a handloader. I need a big, heavy bullet to get through the thickets here in Mid Tenn. The idea of having a big, slow 220 grain RN excites me. I have shot the A-bolt and liked it quite a bit. Unfortunately, both it and the X-bolt are...

With what to replace my Savage in .243

Here's the dilemma: I have a Savage Model 14 America classic chambered in .243 Win. The gun is a tack driver, has a great trigger which is very safe for the woods, a nice looking stock, and balances well for offhand shooting. There are three things I don't like about it though. First, the...

Tactics questio for shotgun hunting this fall

I'm going to be hunting with a shotgun this fall, using rifled slugs since I can't use buckshot and don't want to buy a rifled barrel. What tactics do you guys use when using shotguns (as opposed to rifle hunting) that ensure best success?

what happened to 16 and 28ga

If you look at it economically, the 16ga really doesn't offer enough softer recoil to prevent you from getting a 20, and doesn't have enough power to prevent you from getting a 12. Plus, 12ga shotties nowadays come with 2.75, 3, and 3.5" chambers which provide more versatility than any other...

    30-06 or 270?

I hate to be that guy, but I would actually look for a .280 Remmy. It uses a 7mm bullet that can get better BCs than the 270 bullets. But if you're not reloading, I would go with the 270, since it shoots flatter, has less recoil, and you don't lose any power at range with it. The 30-06 is nice...

CMC Flat Trigger or RRA 2-Stage?

Tirod, it's a Mil-Spec Del-Ton kit rifle with a spike's lower. I shoot 2 moa with irons. Yes, a better trigger will make a difference. Even better is when I get free-float handguards and a scope. but until then, the most glaring flaw is the trigger. I think I am leaning Geissele now. This is...

CMC Flat Trigger or RRA 2-Stage?

Well, i'm just looking for precision really. Is the 2 Stage safer or something?

What is the advantage of the 2-stage over the single stage?

CMC Flat Trigger or RRA 2-Stage?

i might. i think i'll put that on the list. the only non-stock trigger I've tried out so far is the RRA NM 2 stage, and I like it.
