If you really want a 20 round fixed, wait until you can locate one of the Chinese mags with China in script on the bottom plate. You will have a better chance of one of those working.

Every deer I have shot in Northern Missouri has been dead on impact and only one traveled 20 yards with the .243 and 100 gr. Nosler Partitions.

I have found that the threads on the 17 rods are very small .17 only. I don't believe the larger jags can be used.
Have you checked for Tipton rods at Midway. Tipton rods are excellent.
I recently bought a Ruger KM77VT MkII Target Grey rifle in .223. It has a very good trigger and I shot a couple of 3 shot groups this afternoon at 100 yards with a 50gr. Hornady V-Max bullet. One group with Varget was .375 inch and one with Benchmark was .4375 inch.
I would recommend the Ruger.
I stopped at a Pawn/Gun store on the way home from my Stress test Friday to browse through the guns. I found nothing interesting but I did find a bargain in the reloading section. A box (sorry to say there was only one left) of Sierra 6mm .243 dia. 85gr. Spitzer Varminter bullets for $12.45...
The 6.5x55 will do anything the 06 will do. BC on the 6.5 is as good or better than anything in the 06. The Swedes use the 160rn on Moose. I think it will do well on elk.
