If you shoot prone or from a bench 20 rounders are a good way to go.

I think Brownells are great.

A great price for great classic "straight" 20-round mags.

I havve had great luck with the Brownell mags.

I've heard a lot of great feedback on brownell 20's and 30's. As far as functionality, they aught to be gtg.

Speaking of, I really need to pick up a 10 pack of usgi 20's. I think I'd like them when shooting off the bench and prone.

I've had great experiences with D&H 30's. Anyone know if their 20's are up to snuff?

I don't have any complaints with Brownell's mags. Mine have the green follower, can't remember what that means. But they're good enough for Uncle Sam.

I also am a big fan of 20 rounders. I think they're more reliable, and they don't interfere with shooting prone or off the bench. My favorite mags right now are the lancer 20 rounders.

One good thing about 20 rounders is you can carry 10 in a cloth bandolier with the strap around your neck. Two bandoliers is 400 rounds, which was our basic load in the 1st Inf Div in Vietnam. Lots of firepower.

We used these mags from Brownells in my unit for the MK12 rifles, since mil issue 20 round mags were no longer available. They worked fine.

Had them since they first came out. They are fine, and work very well for me. No complaints except they run out quicker than my 30 rounders!

In GI 30-round magazines, the latest followers are tan plastic. Before that, they were green, and before that, black. Any black followers are liable to tilt, and should be replaced.

The very earliest Colt 30-round magazines had dark green followers with a drawing number stamped in white on the top. These are considered valuable by collectors.

AFAIK, all original GI 20-round magazines had metal followers. Tilting of the followers didn't seem to be a problem with the 20-round magazines. (That was the problem that was meant to be addressed by the green and tan followers. Those are really applicable only to 30-round magazines.)

If you put a green or tan anti-tilt follower in a 20-round magazine, it will reduce the capacity. The "legs" of the follower extend lower in the magazine body.

I bought the Brownells 30-round, CS 25-pak a few weeks back for around $11 a piece which included shipping. The magazines came with green followers that don't appear to be anti-tilt. I ordered 25 of the anti-tilt followers from Bushmaster. I'll try them once my Daniel Defense SBR shows up.

If you are shooting a carbine length gas system at high cyclic rates.

If you are shooting a 20" rifle, black works fine. There were no complaints in the Army or marines about black followers until the M4 hit the street.
