I just bought two 20 round Brownell AR mags. I also ordered two 30 round D&H mags from Bravo Co.

I tried the Brownell mags in my RRA tonight and niether one will drop free, not even close. Since these will be range mags it is only an annoyance, but still.

Does anyone else have any experience with these mags and RRA AR's in particular?

I have not recieved the D&H mags from Bravo Co. yet.

The mag that came with the RRA, which looks like a standard military type mag with a green follower, works fine and drops free easily.

The floorplate is marked:

.223/5.56 mm
NHMTG S/42
HARTFORD, CT

and the side is marked:

33710
4-07
&
NHMTG
HARTFORD, CT

No Problem Here

Just tried an empty Brownell's 30 round mag in our new RRA M4gery and it shot right out, just like all the others.

Maybe you have an out-of-spec mag or mag well. Maybe you have gunk somewhere in there?

haven't tried the 20 rnders, but the the 30s are supposed to be decent mags.

I have a drawer full of the D&H from bravo and 2 RRA lowers. No initial problems with the combination. However, after about a year, i cracked the spine on one of the magazines and it still fed ok, but it separated far enough that it wouldn't drop free. i trashed it.

Personally I won't buy an aluminum mag unless it has the 33710 cage code on it. These are NHMTG, Okay Industries, and Colt branded mags.

I've had spotty quality with everything else.

Look at the front edge of the winter trigger guard where it protrudes into the mag well. The mag well is not out of soec, the swinging trigger guard is. I have had to file on 3 of my 5 rifles to keep the mags from dragging on the swinging thingy. Always cut on the cheapest part first.

Late last fall I bought a couple Brownell's 20rnds. So far they've worked great.

There was a discussion here a few weeks ago about who was making Brownell's new mags.

Mine were bought after Brownell's started advertising their new mags. My mags are marked CProducts on the bottom. I had the impression from the THR discussion that someone else was making the new ones.

Maybe I got the last of their CProducts? Dunno, they've been good so far.
