This little beauty from 1972 came home with me today. Appears little used and cleaned up nicely. Spent some time practicing how to safely load five as I have zero experience with traditional single actions. I will say the trigger is WAY better than a transfer bar Ruger.

Plan to have my kids use it and also will pack it along on hikes for plinking/small game assuming the sights are reasonably well regulated. Love my single six but it doesn’t get much hiking time due to size/weight.

I really like those little guys, especially the brass-framed ones like your new Bearcat. I think they are perfect for a camp sidearm, hiking companion or fishing sidearm. :)

Let us know how it shoots for you when you get a chance.

Stay safe.

Nice find. Personally, I prefer the new models but still, a sweet little gun. Congratulations.

I wish .. someone would build a budget friendly Bearcat clone ,,, hint Ruger or Heritage

58CD8369-5E78-44FA-9C5D-8F5803BF2FC9.jpeg Shot it today. Accuracy was pretty good but it prints WAY high at 25y (Tried CCI SV, mini mags, and Velocitors). Unfortunately this one may be going down the road. 5A0CDDE9-8B54-4B8E-AC5A-7D317ABC9EDD.jpeg D5D4536B-140D-448B-8958-2F9F2A370BFC.jpeg

drop the front sight down into the rear trough (sight). mine shoots more to point of aim when i do that. i also press my thumb (shooting hand) against the frame for more stability. i also recut the barrel crown (it was really bad). tighten all the frame screws (my ejector rod housing screw was loose as was the frame screw in front of the trigger guard).

i love to shoot mine.

great choice,

murf

good god, a $300 ruger bearcat is sitting on a lgs shelf?! buy it as an investment or as a gift to unborn grandchildren if nothing else.

actually my first predinged bearcat came to me similarly unappreciated from a highly tactical lgs several years ago for $300. a second came from gb.com with an oem target grip, which greatly improves accuracy at a small cost in handiness. i have looked in vain for a second target grip. i wonder if someone could make one at a reasonable price?

both bearcats have the free transfer bar safety upgrade, which has included a full free factory refurbishment. i want all six chambers filled and ready to rock in a 22lr single-action revolver that i’m carrying.

I owned one for awhile many years ago but sold it because it's so tiny I couldn't shoot it very well at all. Too bad I didn't have the foresight to see that I would eventually have grand children to teach to shoot and then great grand children. I'm covered up with GG girls that it would be perfect for and one boy that could shoot it for some years. I haven't run across one for sale in so long that I can't remember when it was. In fact single action Rugers of any stripe but wranglers are few and far between in my area.

I had one just like it when I was a kid, shot the heck out of it.
I carried a small file with me because the front of the cylinder would lead up and it wouldn't turn anymore.

I always wanted to get a stainless birdshead for my wife (she has tiny hands) and as a pocket gun. Stuff it with CB shorts and rat shot for working in the warehouse.
