BUG question

That said, carrying anything in your back pocket causes your spine to be misaligned.
Hallelujah!

Carried a wallet in the back pocket for 50 years. Had severe back pain for the majority of those years. The Chiropractor advised me to stop for a very long time, but his persistence finally won out and I quit the back-pocket carry.

Back pain slowly resolved over the subsequent years, and now it is actually tolerable.

Respect those that deal with pain for a living. Put your wallet in a jacket pocket, or let your wife carry it - she'll get the money anyway.

A gun in a back pocket sounds really uncomfortable. And the odds of needing any gun at all are tiny. Needing a backup, as a private citizen? I guess I'm just glad I don't live in that neighborhood.
Actually, you do live in that neighborhood - we all do. You just haven't seen the light yet.

That said, carrying anything in your back pocket causes your spine to be misaligned.

When I first started driving big trucks, my back would be sore after a day in the saddle. I finally realized it was misalignment from my wallet. That was 33 years ago, and while I don't drive Big Trucks any longer, I still don't sit on my wallet.... it goes in the console.

Back pocket?

Pain/health issue: Sitting on wallet leads to back pain. I learned this before I was old enough to legally possess a handgun. I used to think that I would just have learn to “be a man, and get used to it,” but, I finally started carrying wallets elsewhere. Handguns are, generally, thicker than wallets I have used.

Security/loss problem: I learned, long ago, that anything I carry in my back pocket is likely to end up in a chair, on a sofa cushion, on a car seat, or other place I have sat, sooner or later. Then, there is the theft problem; I do not live where pick-pockets are common, but I do not have eyes in the back of my head.

Family safety problem: My son, and then, later, my grandsons, went through those times in their lives when they likes to reach into my pockets.

Exceptions: Some of my trousers have back pockets that allow me to keep one of my favored hand-held lights clipped into the extreme edge of the back pocket, in a way that I am not sitting on it. So, a back pocket is an acceptable place, for me, to tote a light. while remaining on my feet, I will temporarily stash some other things in a back pocket.

LOL. :)

My one buddy has carried a Walther TPH, in a very well-worn, leather pocket holster, in his front right pocket for as long as Ive known him. Hes a cheap SOB too, as evidenced by the TPH "Skoal Ring" in all of his pants. Picture the above, but basically in the white, or at least with a white outline.

You'd have to be pretty thick to not know what it was too. :)

I do. I carry a Keltec P3AT in an Uncle Mike's pocket holster in my left back jeans pocket. I practice drawing it from there and can do it rather swiftly if needed. Not a problem. Also, it's no more uncomfortable then carrying my wallet in the other back pocket. Most times I forget it's even there. Many times it's my only gun that I have on me, but not always.

I carried my wallet in my back pocket for years. I moved it to the front to reduce exposure to pick-pocketting. And... I found it much better for my back.

No, I would nit consider a back pocket holster.

Ah. So how many times has your life been preserved thanks to your second gun?
The reasons for a BUG ..
1. New York reload . If you carry a revolver its quicker to drop empty gun and grab another VS reload
2. Failure… bad magazines.. pistol doesn’t fire.
3. Scuffles on the ground… primary gun scooting across the ground or floor…

Do I always carry a BUG .. nope
Do I usually carry a BUG ….. Yes

Why ? Read above reasons …

Back pocket carry is great if you never sit down. I carry my LCP in hot weather either 4 o’clock IWB, or in a sticky pocket holster in my cargo shorts thigh pocket.

I wouldn't call a Walther TPH carrier "cheap" 😉😆

While I have not carried a gun in my back pocket, I have carried a wallet in that location for decades. When I sit, it's on a car seat, couch, or other cushioned surface. My pockets are aligned with the fatty part of my buttocks. It's no where near my spine, a bone, and when I sit, it's not like my wallet (or a 1" or so thick gun) would have be noticeably sitting crooked as I'm sitting on a soft cushioned surfaces. I'm not understanding how a small, thin, lightweight wallet is messing causing severe chronic back pain and spine injuries. Some of you must have some extremely thick wallets and unusually high back pockets.

Taking these picture for example of back pocket location. I'm not understanding the spine injuries.

I almost came home with an AMT backup 45 the day before yesterday. Had been placed on hold for me for a few days. While in the shop I thought hard about it and asked the guy if there would be a charge to restock it and buy something else and he said no as long as it was an equal or greater value. I ended up bringing home a Smith & Wesson equalizer with six magazines instead! Hardly a backup gun but I still have my Smith & Wesson model 60 so I'm still in the game! 😉👍

I have no idea how old you are as your profile is blocked. If you live long enough you might find out why it isn't a good idea to sit on something that misaligns your pelvis with your spine even just a little. I am sitting in my recliner with an aching hip even after taking pain killers right now. It gets some of us quicker than others. Being one of those noazzatall types I have no padding left and it smarts. It took a long time for me but it's no fun at all.

Sitting for long periods is one of the worst things you can do to yourself, and for a lot of reasons. I don't doubt sitting on something in your pockets all day might cause you issues.

That said, Ive had a pretty fat wallet and a bunch of other stuff in my back pockets my whole life, and I don't think that was what contributed to any back issues I might have had. Other than maybe those days I was on a machine or in a truck for a good part of the day, I was rarely ever sitting, let alone, sitting still.

Now all the other stupid crap Ive done to myself over the years, yea, and I just felt a couple of stabbing pains as my brain must have been rehashing a few wondering why would you bring that up, dumbass? :)

I guess the only logical alternative is to carry two BUG, e.i., one in each back pocket. Problem solved.

I carried two Bulgy Makarovs like that sometimes, when I still had them. I had one in each coat pocket and did that for one winter. I had 8 magazines between the two. That's 64 rounds + 2. Mak mags are very slim too, and very easy to carry.
