Another 'what firearm do you wish they made' thread....

Here are some straightforward things which could be done without any huge technical advance or massive retooling . . .

1. S&W revolvers without "The Lock."

2. Winchester M70 in .458 Lott with a drop-box magazine holding 5 rounds, priced in line with their standard rifles, not $2500 custom shop stuff. (OK, I'm a few months late, they closed the plant; that's what they get for not listening to me in the first place!)

3. DSA FAL in .358 Win or .375/08.

4. Commander-length, Scandium-framed S&W 1911 clone with "bobtail" treatment, night sights, and no stupid warning label.

5. Mini-14 with slightly heavier barrel, shipped with 20 rd Ruger factory mag.

6. Mini-14 set up to take standard AR mags.

A big and slow plinker round similar to a 32 rimfire, I do not care for the .17s, they might be great but I want a little more thump. Something like a 22 hornet, 25-20 or 32-20 with a shorter more substantial case. Also rifles to shoot it from, starting with a singleshot thru a nice lever to a well equipped bolt. Imagine a Stevens favorite single shot, a Marlin 39 and a Win 52 sporter in 30 or 32 rimfire. If the round was kept short like a 22lr not a 22mag, it would make for a nice close range ground hog/coyote gun.

I would like to see a Win Mod 70 built around the length and diameter of a 222 mag like a Mini Mauser or the CZ.

I would like to see a H&R 1871/NEF Handi built in a 2/3 size for the smaller rounds.

I want a factory S&W K frame set sans zit, w/fixed sights 3" barrel with a swap cylinder for 357 and 9mm.

And the Coonan .357 automatic? (1911-based semi-auto chambered in .357 magnum).
I'd buy one of those.

3" fixed sight GP100 in 44special.
Very cool. I have a 4" five-shot titanium Taurus in 45ACP, and love it.

sp101 or J frame-size revolver in 10mm
That's gotta HURT. Better you than me.

DSA FAL in .358 Win or .375/08.
I hear ya, but I'd still probably prefer the AR platform over the FAL for ergonomic reasons. But I would be willing to use 358 instead of 35 Remington...

a reasonbly priced m14/m1a copy
They're called Norinco's, and we can't have any. :(

mil spec m1a1 carbine folder (chambered in 357 mag = best truck gun ever)
Could be cool, but a hi-cap magazine would be a bear to arrange, what with the rimmed cartridge and all.....

Mini-14 set up to take standard AR mags.
Bwahahahahahaaa! I can hear ol' Bill Ruger chuckling in his grave over that one now.

I want a factory S&W K frame set sans zit, w/fixed sights 3" barrel with a swap cylinder for 357 and 9mm.
Sign me up.

I notice a lot of affection in this thread for revo's. I would gues that, outside of CASS, there's just not a lot of good stuff happening in revo-land. I certainly ain't buying new S&W's; I'm perfectly happy scouring the shows for police turn ins of K-frame goodness. :)

FACTORY produced and priced 30-06 varminter/tactical wieght.
I can't guarantee that they still make it, but I have a Savage 112BVSS .30-06 varmint gun. They also used to make a 110FP Sniper, which is almost exactly the same, except it's parkerized and has a cheap black plastic stock instead of the laminated varmint stock. I used to see a LOT of these at gunshows for very attractive prices, new and used.

There IS one caveat to the Savage .30-06 varmint/sniper guns. Mine at any rate, was VERY short throated. It wouldn't chamber anything longer than a 150gr. fmj, without it being seated very deeply. I had a gunsmith run a finish reamer into it so that I could use the 200gr. Sierra Matchkings, which is all I shoot out of it.

Other than the Canjar single set trigger I had installed, I've got NO complaints about the gun. It certainly does its part on the 600 yard line.

carbon fiber p7 in .357sig,model j in .30 carbine, handi rifle in 5.45x39,for that matter handi rifle in 338 lapua

I'm a fan of the really old stuff.

Colt - very simple. Make an EXACT replica of the 1stgen SAA, 1911, 1903, and Pythons. That a guy could afford.

Winchester - EXACT replica of the 1866,1873, 1876,1886,1892, 1895, 1897(trench version also) Mod 70 pre-64, Mod 21, Mod 12, etc.

Savage - EXACT replica of a circa 1950 Savage 99

Parker, LCSmith, at a price a normal guy can swing.

S&W - no lock revo's. A nice N0.3 would be real cool.

A modern break open D/A revolver(ala Webley) in .45acp w/moon clips in a snubbie/CHL version.
A realisitc priced M-1-A.
Ruger mini-14 that, uses standard AR mags, that is more accurate.

A hammerless double rifle that is affordable.

A walther P22 in 9mm, and keep the hammer. I was thinking a competitor to the Rohrbach(that we could afford)+(the p99 is just too fat for a deep cover in my mind.)

A camp carbine in 9, .40, 10 or .45 that would take readily available SMG mags. Like 25 or 33 round UZI mags or MP5 mags or even sten or M3 mags. Put a ten rounder or a 5 rounder in for plinking, whip out the 30 rounder if you need it.

As said, a mini 14 that used AK or AR mags.

My son has asked for a 460 S&W model 92 or 1894 marlin, set up to shoot .45 colt, 454 casull and 460 like a 22 handles shorts, longs, and LR.

3/4 scale and a full sized position target rifle in .22 that were QUALITY target shooters, AFFORDABLE, (under $300) that were good enough to start kids shooting with an accurate and precision tool to train and compete with.
Adjustable length of pull from 10 to 13 on the youth (3/4 scale) gun and from say 12 to 14.5 on the adult gun. NRA matches with claiming rights to prevent "race guns" or other shananigans. Standard AR type post and peep or similar affordable sights reguired. A pure "stock" class. Everyone shooted the same ammo at matches, be it green tag, or ely match or whatever, but everyone shoots the same stuff. same case, same lots.

(claiming rights are used in stock cars and horse racing to prevent ringers. It simply means that any rifle in the competition MUST be sold to a claimer for a preset price.
Lets say MSRP is 300 and we set claiming price at $400. If you show up at a match with a rifle CLEARLY outshooting the competition, anyone registered can buy that rifle off you for the $400. This lets you spend a couple bucks cleaning up it up AND prevents people from just letting you test drive it for them. It also prevents the overkill of new barrels, blueprinted actions etc. you sink a ton of money into it, someone will take it from you.)

An affordable double rifle, in everyday calibers, proportioned for them. a .410 sized double in .308 or 7x57 or similar, or a .358. sweet.

a MP5SD that a normal person could afford, or at least legalize NEW Uzi mini's and cans. NO NFA tax. just a CCW as proof you can be trusted.

gots lots more

10mm semi-automatic carbine that utilizes 15-round Glock magazines. Oooo baby!!

I'd be all over one of those too! Also, how about a PM9 sized single stack 9mm pistol from GLOCK. A pistol that always works and would go to a high round count w/o trips back to the factory, bbl peening, etc.

I would like to see a single shot break open 22 LR pistol

6" barrel

Stainless with matte finish

NEF makes the handi rifle I wish they made the handi pistol

I would like to see a single shot break open 22 LR pistol......

TC Contender?? I've had one for 25yrs. I would think that you could have a bbl cut and crowned to any length that you so desired. If you get tired of the 22lr bbl, hang anything else on the end of the frame that you want to shoot. Why limit yourself to "only" a 22lr? :)

Don't call me a geek for this,

but a double action top break revolver in .45 long colt that fires from the bottom of the cylinder instead of the top (The gun from trigun)

it just seems like a good idea.

Nostalga Freak here...........

I'd like to see a modern version of the old G-96 Mauser capable of loadimg with stripper clips...and chamberd for .30 Luger = necked down to .22 and loaded with V Max bullets:what:  Shoulder stock would be nice too:cool: :D
