The New CT proposed Laws.

It didn't work for me, but I'm on a cheap computer, maybe someone else will have luck.

Is the provision of banning body armor still in the works?

The link went dead. Facebook also deleted the file I had uploaded in a CT gun group. Working on finding another way to host it now.

I have Open Office and that works to view it. I think its a form of MS Word. I have it in .DOC format but the file is 340kb. Too big to attach here.

Flashcube...that is the Office 2007/2010 version file format for MS Word. You MAY be able to download the "Office Compatibility Pack" for your version from the MS website

I managed to get the file to work. It looks like they just re-hashed most of our existing ban but strengthened the wording in places for more blanket coverage of the "feature test". Practically every AR is called out by name and any other modern rifle they could think of. Even the bloody Hi-Point..... :cuss:

Just came home from spending a few hours at the capitol. There were many amendments proposed to remove shotguns/.22's from the laws and to allow handgun mags up to 17 rounds.

The democratic majority shot all of them down. This bill is going to pass. Not much can be done with a democratic majority who refuse to listen to their constituents.

Thanks for the update, depressing as it is.

The way I read the bill, rimfires are exempt from the AWB, but not mag capacity restrictions. Is that right?

Have any amendments been made to benefit either side?

Edited the OP with a direct link to the bill. No need to download anything.

They were trying to get .22 exempted from mag capacity and the need for a permit to buy ammo. Same for shotguns.

Dems said nope. They have so far blocked every single amendment.

The Democrats even blocked an amendment that would offer a tax credit to those people who bought a gun safe.

The would rather have guns left leaning in the corner for anyone to access then lose a few tax dollars to help people buy safes......pathetic.

They just don't want any ownership of guns, period. Case in point, Keith Richards' (i.e., Rosa DeLauro) brilliant idea a while back to offer a $2,000 tax credit for turning in an "assault weapon."

It just boggles the mind, but their intentions are clear.

The worst part is there is no more selling your "pre ban" rifles. The new law forbids the sale or transfer of any "assault rifle" So if you own one you can never sell it or give it to anyone. It can only be turned into the police or sold out of state.

Only pre 1994 rifles can be transferred. Anything after that cannot.

The epilogue of the passage of a gun control bill is the prologue of a Second Amendment lawsuit.

We knew it was going to happen, just a matter of time...so glad I got out of that state! Keep the faith! It will be challenged and likely some of it will be repealed, but the days of standard cap mags are likely gone forever...:cuss:

Isn't it true that all firearms purchased in CT have been reported to CSP on a form similar to a 4473 anyway, so in effect "registration" already exists?

And it will be challenged in court and we'll see how the court decides on the constitutionality of the law.

Only handguns. Long guns (non-AW) could be sold FTF with no paperwork before this.

I can't wait until that day.

Handguns, yes. They were registered whether bought out of state or purchased in state. Long guns, no, not until this. So, the handguns have been registered for a while. Nothing new there. The mag capacity is the problem with them now. They cut out a lot of handguns that can be legally sold.

I'm pretty sure that they can be sold out of state by an FFL, and it looks like they can be passed on by bequest in state if the recipient can meet the Assault Weapon Certificate criteria, at least according to the original wording that I read this AM
