The New CT proposed Laws.

It does make me happy that CO at least did not resort to rushed tricks like NY and CT have.

Yes the bills were rushed through but it was still 1 week per chamber. That 3 days from proposal to law emergency procedure is being abused.

Yeah, CT didn't want a million AR mags dropped shipped the next day for their residents. They stuck it in and twisted it and then bragged about how they have the toughest gun control laws in the country all while they're telling us they don't want our guns. Just some common sense laws, is all. I am moving out ASAP. Hopefully many more will follow. I hope this state fails and becomes the poster child for how a state is run into the ground by incompetant government.

Guys, can you keep your newly deemed assault weapons? And I'm no familiar with your state law. Does your state constitution have a constitutional right to bear arms?

One kinda funny side-effect of this new registration period is that after we register our "assault weapons", we can put as many scary features on them as we want.

My AK is gonna get a flash hider, folding stock, re-welded bayonet lugs, and whatever else I can stick on it after it gets registered.

The expanded version of N003k's answer is that as part of a grandfather clause we can keep "assault weapons" that we possessed before the ban took effect, but we have to register them. We also have to register any magazine with capacity higher than 10 rounds.
No new assault weapon can be purchased. An assault weapon is anything with one scary looking feature.

That is a really good idea. Never occurred to me!!! Too bad I don't have anything to register or I'd do the same.

Can we buy the receiver and build our own with no scary features? No flash hiders, no pistol grip, no gangsta, scary items.... just an AR that shoots 10 round mags?

Turtle...thats the one thing keeping me sane. I've had a pre-94 AR...but now my first AR is getting fun bits, gonna see about getting a lug and break on my AK, bayonet lug (Maybe even an uncomfortable collapsing stock just for looks) on my CETME...anything that became one that I CAN add more things to...I will.

One of the AW features is a forward grip, so you'll have to build it without any form of hand guard.

If you do that, then I think you technically can.

Of course, that's assuming you find a way to get a non-listed receiver what with the new language and all. I don't know if there are any existing receivers that aren't covered.

Well, except the one I'm going to 3D print if I legally can.

Toughest laws in the nation, and the quickest exodus of business and law-abiding citizens in the world. I hope the loss of revenue to the state doesn't result in emergency midnight tax increase bills being signed.

I don't know what to say to those left behind to bear the burden of tyranny in that state?

Good luck.

How about "stay at your own risk. Be forewarned." Or, even better, "Be careful for what you ask for.... you just may get it."
