Over the years I've heard and read a lot of stories about defensive use (and criminal) of .25s. They all seem to be, "shot once, didn't penetrate " or "got shot and didn't feel it". I never seem to hear about anyone getting shot 5 or 6 times and walking away. Actually, I've never read or heard...
You guys should check out Black Aces Tactical. I think they were the first to get the ATF ruling on this. They make a pump that takes saiga mags and has a folding arm brace, since 2014. As far as I understand this, the "weapon" is classed not as a SBS or a handgun, but as a "firearm". It has to...
I, too, listen to NPR. Most of their pieces on guns are negative, BUT I heard a Freakenomics program on risk assessment that started with the risk to children with a gun in the house vs. a pool. Their take? Children are at 100% greater risk of death in a house with a pool.
Liking or disliking a double stack 1911 seems to be a matter of personal preference. Learned to shoot cf pistol on a single stack 1911 and have owned my share of them. About 15 years ago I lucked onto a deal for a Para P-13, hated the thick grip when a buddy pointed out that I didn't shoot one...
I've been looking into using my M1A for hunting as well. Not long range like the op, but just run of the mill moose hunting. One of the main changes I'm going to do is install an adjustable gas plug, not for accuracy but to ease the stress on my rifle.
If it was in .45 and took Glock mags I could see myself buying this for $600-650. You should ask a gun dealer how fast a Kel-Tec Sub-2000 that takes Glock mags sell compared to the others.
The title says it all. Just got a used, but new to me XD in .45 and had a TLR-1 with a 1913 key lying around. Tried to put them together but no go. I do have the extra keys......somewhere. It would be a big help if someone could answer the title question. Thanks in advance.
I appreciate the many comments on my essay and the additional views expressed. If you attribute the requested excerpt to me as "Rivergirl" you can use it, but I retain the rights regardless. Thanks.
Were you in fear for your life? Every state has different laws and circumstances. You need to find a source that's up to date on Alaska's laws. My info is 20.years out of date, I just realized. Thanks Jim!
This is an essay I wrote. I'd appreciate your feedback.

The Wife of 338.06. Call me Rivergirl.
Even at the height (bottom?) of the ammo drought, 5.7 ammo was available. Funny thing I noticed then, go into a gun store (local or big box) there would be no .22lr in stock, but plenty of .22 guns. All those stores had plenty of 5.7mm, but no 5.7mm guns for sale.:D
Armscor is the only maker of the guns & ammo that I know of. They make a rifle that takes the pistol mags. Lee makes dies. The round is somewhere on the 5.7-22 mag spectrum. That said, I got the model that comes with a 9mm barrel. I thought that if I didn't like the .22 tcm I'd have a double...
It's my understanding that you can own a less than 18 inch shotgun barrel legally, BUT if you put it on a shotgun without the papers you are committing a crime. The "solvent traps" sound like the same deal.
While I use mostly Lee products, I get annoyed with the company often. What kind of idiot do they have writing the instructions? Bought a bullet feeder for my Pro 1000. Can't use it. Why? The dies need to be beveled. You don't find this out until you buy one. Can't use lead boolits.
