I reload for my 40 caliber sigs. It’s a wonderful, powerful pistol round if you don’t mind the recoil. One of the reasons so many people don’t like it is the recoil. If you load it properly , it hits much harder than the nine and offers more penetration than 45. I am also shoot and reload 45...
Nice Build. I have done several AR 10 builds in 308. I really like the 20 inch barrels. A bigger difference in velocity that I would’ve thought. The 18s a good compromise.
Don’t worry about the cables on your end gate. The sheet metal they’re bolted to on the tailgate fails before the cable ever would. Speaking from experience lol.
What about shooter error. That’s the big variable. In this discussion that no one talks about. If you are a good consistent shot, 3 to 5 shot groups. tell you all you need to know. If you are a good shot, you know each time you pull the trigger whether it was a good shot or you were not...
It’s a little late to vote Republican now. If you would’ve realized that 30 years ago, maybe you could’ve stopped some of the stuff you are whining about now. I have nothing but distain for people that have voted for the Democrats the past 30 years, and claim to care about the second amendment...
I think it’s great to have an A.R. style rifle in these larger calibers. I also can’t understand anyone lugging a 12 pound rifle around hunting. If you want to be able to hit the zombie hordes at 1500 yards they should be perfect.
I love my AR’s for what they are. It is silly to compare their triggers to good bolt rifle triggers.
There straight back stocks which necessitate the high above bore sights are also uncomfortable compared to the drop stock of a bolt rifle. The semi auto part is nice if you have large groups of...
I so agree with you about shooting positions when hunting. I hunt elk in the Rocky Mountains in steep terrain. Most of my shots are standing, some off hand and some touching a tree. I count myself lucky when I can get a sitting or a prone position. Add in increased heart rate due to exertion...
A state record is not an average sized animal. I stand by my statement. White tails are larger than black tail. Mule deer are much larger than Whitetail. I understand that black tail are a big deal if that’s all you have to hunt.
The case capacity negates any realistic comparison. You can get a 3030 up to 308 velocities with a123g bullet that a 7.62 39 uses.
It’s also worth mentioning that white tails are not that hard to kill unless a hunter cannot hit what he aims at.
The last time I shot a deer with my 300 win mag I could stick my fist through the hole in its neck. I was embarrassed at the overkill. It was too much velocity.
Regardless of the caliber of the rifle If you want to put them down where they stand shoot them in the front shoulder. If you wreck their wheels they aren’t going anywhere and there’s very little meat in the front shoulders of those little deer anyway. i’ve always liked quartering shots for...
