Until recently, I wasn't receiving any unwanted ad mail. Then, I bought a small item from Brownell's. It had been quite a while since I purchased from them. Anyway, since then, I have ads from about every Tom, Dick, and Harry gun supply outfit on earth. I have just been marking the "Junk" and if...
I bought mine at a police auction for $21 back in the 60s. I didn't get a lot of warm and fuzzies shooting it. My son liked it. Hasn't been shot for almost 40 years.
I've only been to one auction, a crowded police auction of seized weapons. People were bidding higher than new prices to get their own used guns back. I left.
While I recognize the value of safes, I went with an ADT alarm system, with interior motion, breaking glass (windows) and all entry door sensors. If the alarm is not disarmed within 60 seconds, ADT calls for the disarm code, failing that, the police (less than 5 minutes away) are notified...
I do not hunt or engage in competition. I collect...a lot. After I shoot, I never know exactly when I will ever shoot them again. So, I clean each handgun, shotgun or rifle thoroughly and put them back in storage..
Has anyone checked the Starline site recently? I do it sporadically. Yesterday, they only showed three calibers that were readily available...none of which I could use. If I remember correctly, previous posts here inferred Starline was cranking up production.
Anyone have any knowledge of what...
I began with a SW 442 primarily for its small size for pocket carry.. Later, I reconsidered being limited to five rounds and reviewed the options of semi-autos with safeties. Being a lefty, I finally settled.on the Sig 365 because it offered an ambidextrous safety, small size, 12+1 9mm capacity...
I always go through the seller's ratings, especially the reasons for any negative ratings, and if the seller responded to the rating(s). How the seller handles (or not) complaints can be illuminating.
In the past 60 or so years, I have managed to purchase five Winchesters in 25-20, along with a couple Remington pumps in that caliber. Current advice is to form the 25-20 from 32-20. Now I understand the 32-20 is also gone.
I do have a 92 Win that someone converted to .256 WM, which I can form...
I would tend to buy such an old rifle if I felt I could do most of the rehab myself. In the OP's description of that particular rifle, it appears that rifle is past the realm of saving and enters the wall-hanger stage unless he's willing to spend further.
I got into the TC craze back in the 70s. At first it was calibers to duplicate my old '92 Winchesters, 25-20 up to 44-40. Then I drifted off the beaten path with calibers from .22LR to .44 mag, with barrels from 10" to 14". I still have them all, but I can't remember the last time I shot them.
I withdraw my mini-rant of a couple weeks ago regarding Starline not having available brass. Heartened by some of the replies, I ordered 500 .357 about a week and a half ago...they will be here tomorrow!
