I feel like the take-home message is to open your cylinder before going downrange. It is easy to forget to count (unless you are Sterling Archer), but opening the cylinder eliminates the issue entirely.
Some objects acquire significance by having layers of history on top of the metal. I have an old 94 that went through a lot of adventures with my favorite uncle. For me, 'soul' is a metaphor for this and it is a function of time and experience, so new objects just can't have it. But it is...
I do definitely have a laser pointer, but my understanding is that a dazzler spreads the light field out. I feel like it would be tough to hit someone's eyes with a tiny point of light,
Yeah, but I am faculty, with a lot to lose if I am caught. Like I said, drawing a weapon in those circumstances, unless you are literally under fire yourself, is a risky proposition. And aside from the police taking you for a target, a college campus is full of people - it's not like the...
That is pretty much what I see when I google 'laser dazzler'. Does anyone know if they are any good? It has that tacticool marketing thing going, which always makes me suspicious.
I was on the UNLV campus yesterday, barricaded in a room. Naturally, I was unarmed and, sitting there for three hours waiting for police to clear the building had me thinking of legal ways to have a self-defense weapon on campus. A few faculty members have some traditional spears / arrows on...
There are plenty of videos on YouTube of people getting injured or nearly so with Tannerite. If M80s were legal today, you would have videos of people being dumb and getting hurt.
Fun and dangerous pastimes will inevitably take a toll on the careless. I used to touch off M80s and now use...
The side folding of the S&W offsets some of the advantages of the KT. As is, the KT is thin enough folded to sit inconspicuously in a laptop case. I am not sure that is the case for the side-folding S&W, which must be about twice as thick.
I think these are called swivel guns. Pretty much a booby- trap gun. Definitely from a time when you could legally kill the peasants encroaching onto your estate grounds, usually trying to find game to poach. After all, the Lord of the manor owns all the game thereon.
Where did you get the frame? We actually have a second slide and barrel for the Singer. I know I will never find a Singer frame, but I imagine there must be parts from other early manufacturers.
I hadn't thought of the CMP for anything other than rifles. Thanks for that - I will look into it.
Yes, I could give my own newish 1911 some 'character', but a link to the past enhances a thing for me. It is obviously absurd, but then, to me, so is buying a pristine first generation Frontier...
Let's say you were looking for a 1911 with a little 'history'. Perhaps a GI surplus weapon or an interwar civilian model. And let's say a ding or two or three is no obstacle - this is for occasional shooting, not showing. What's the minimum price you would expect to pay? And where would you...
Folks dismiss the 'cup and saucer' hold, but I think that it is easy and intuitive for new shooters, and does almost all of what you want a two-hand grip to do (especially if the lower hand is firmly wrapping the upper). I always teach it to new handgunners, especially those who are still...
