They sell a 17.5 ounce 10 inch high can for just $4.12.!!! Called Hot Shot. An 8 ounce can of bear spray costs 10 times that. Can says it shoots out 27 feet. I don't really plan on using it as a sub for bear spray though i might. I think of it more as rat spray - the 2-legged kind. I've...
Found a 10 foot section of 3/4 inch pipe along the road and cut it in half and made a one inch deep vertical cut on each end of the 5 foot section and installed some string. Very easy. I estimate the pull at 40 pounds. Could certainly kill a man or a deer with it. Didn't cost a penny and...
Went to Sportsperson's Warehouse today and they didn't have any CF ammo!!! So i went to the BP section to buy some lead balls and they had no 451s or 454s. They did have 457s at $18 for a hundred. That is steep but i bought a box. No percussion caps either.
People are hoarding all...
They have an article on "Cap & Ball Revolvers" in their april 2021 issue and on page 74 they say "The power of these cap and ball revolvers is anemic by today's ballistic standards."
A rem 1858 (8 inch barrel) with a heavy but perfectly safe load of 40 grains BP has the muzzle energy of a...
It's been 12 years since they stopped production and i know they are almost indestructible but they're getting hard to find and very expensive.. I've got one i bought 25 years ago but i'd like another maybe with a shorter barrel. They are not complicated guns and they should be able to make...
Happened to me the last two times so i guess it's the policy. Bought some BBs and pellets and CO2 cartridges and had to show my DL.
CO is pretty much a blue state but i never thought of it as being anti-gun.
This article and other articles i've read say that is the case and i wonder why.. All i can think of is the manufacturers don't want to really incapacitate the bear for hours as that would leave it defenseless if attacked by another bear. I don't care about that and i would like to have a big...
I'm not sure drunk drivers qualify as non-violent criminals but i do endorse the idea that non-violent criminals should have the same gun rights as everyone else. Anyway, this ruling is important and i bet if it goes to the SC, the court will agree now that Kav is a justice.
The consensus here seems to be that modern ML rifles have rifling too fast to shoot patched round balls so you have to use the much more expensive bullets. I did some checking around and the cheapest 50 cal bullets i can find are the Hornaday Great Plains solid lead bullets and even they are...
I really like how stainless steel looks and wonder if this so-called "white finish" has the beauty of SS and also the corrosion resistance. Taylors sells this for a very reasonable $354.
I have
1. Very long arms for my height
2. Rotator cuff pain
3. A preference for long barreled BP revolvers to reduce hearing loss
I know there are serious safety issues with cross-draw but i don't shoot at ranges and thus that is no concern for me.
I've never had one but the chainfire problem seems over-rated . On both my 1858 and my ROA the chambers adjacent to the one being fired have almost total clearance. The lead ball would just graze the frame of the gun. And it would not be going very fast anyway. Seems to me like just...
A tiny little percussion cap costs 7 cents - same as a 22LR cartridge. And wads are 10 cents each.
BP shooting used to be cheaper than smokeless - as it should be. You are buying the components and making the ammo.
Fortunately the guns themselves are still pretty cheap.
Midway's has this for $400. 3 inch barrel, 44 cal, 6 shot, no loading lever, birdshead checkered grip. Assuming the chambers will take 35 grains, will it shoot a 140 grain lead ball at 800 fps? If so this would be a nice gun.
If so it would be interesting if you would cap it (no powder or lead ball) and then drop it repeatedly on a concrete sidewalk and also on a gravel road to see if that causes any of the caps to fire.
8 inch barrel of course. It's a beauty. I think it looks better than my SS ROA. Haven't shot it yet. Only complaint is the loading lever is kinda loose and when unlatched it falls thru a full 90 degrees.
Cabela's is selling these right now for $400 - $100 below normal price. No...
We still need guns for hunting and fighting the govt but for fighting criminals bear spray has a lot going for it. I'm talking about those big cannisters that cost $40 and contain 8 ounces of spray. Among their virtues
1. Don't really have to be aimed
2. Don't wreck your ears like...
Both the instore and online price at Sportsmans Warehouse is $10 for a one pound jar. Been at that price for months. The reviews i've read say it's good stuff.
