    Accurate bullets for Howa 1500

Does anyone have a .308 168 or 165 grain bullet that gives good accuracy in a Howa 1500 30-06? So far the Speer 168 looks promising but I have 6 or 8 left on hand. The Hornady 168 shoots like buckshot.

    Can anyone identify this bullet?

In addition to having no specific bearing surface, brand x bullets have an OAL length to rifling of 3.464", .084" longer than the next longest bullet I have in the same rifle. The base has a slight circular projection that is not present on anything else I have. These bullets are not a match...

    Can anyone identify this bullet?

Bought a bag of these years ago at a gunshow with no I.D. except they are 168 grain boat tail hollow point target type. The only odd thing is, they have no distinct bearing surface, just a continuous curve from the point to the beginning of the BT.

Just priced out powder, primers and bullets......

Reloading gives you the ability to make usable ammunition with a variety of components. Which is useful when you can't always get what you want. http://patsreloading.com/patsrel3/Items.aspx

    .38 Special with FFFg Goex....

I would strongly suggest NOT using a conventional powder dispenser for black powder. Manufacturers of powder measures intended for smokeless powder do caution against using them for BP. The most sensible course might be to gift the powder to a BP shooter.

    Recent lots of WW231

The temperature is similar. The adjustment up he tells me, is 0.3 grains. This is a dry location, so the older powder may have dried some and had more energy per grain.

    Recent lots of WW231

Has anyone noticed if recent lots of 231 are giving lower velocities that older lots? A friend thinks this may be the case, noticing a change in recoil and ejection pattern in .45 ACP. Any thought welcome, thanks in advance.

    Upgrade for pistol security box

I added a large headed screw on each side so that the cable ends could be wired down. This is not a strength item, just keeps the cable ends from slipping out.

1911 hammer has play with slide off and decocked.

The mainspring should have an upper and lower cap. The lower one provides the detent to retain the crosspin that holds the housing in the frame. The upper forms a guide for the spring and a seat for the hammer strut. If this is missing, things are not right. If the hammer strut is a little bit...

Phoenix Arms Pistol--Do you have one?

I have a couple. The slide safety is treated with clear silicone sealer to keep it out of trouble. One glitch was that the trigger bar and disconnector lever can develop a dent where they hit together, creating a hangup. A little smoothing with a file will cure it. There even may be some...

AR 15 Bolt Will Not Lock back?

Make sure the stock screw and spacer are correct. If the screw is too long it may limit the movement of the buffer/bolt.

    Pewter from the thrift store.

I bought a pair of candlesticks at a thrift store that were labeled as being from a well known department store, marked as pewter. They turned out to be very high melting temp, and the density was consistent with stainless steel! Never did get them to actually melt.

    Range report 10mm

Springfield XDm 4.5", Hornady 180 grain XTP with enough AA#9 to go estimated 1150 fps. Shot at 3 water jugs on a folding table, distance about 6 feet. Result was a drenching shower and fragmented jugs. First jug is on left, entry is facing down. Last jug on the right, both sides ruptured. Bullet...

    Inside the A-Zoom

Nothing in there but a little blob of resilient plastic. Just made a large primer insert by sharpening the mouth of a .22 centerfire cartridge and using it to cut out a plug of shoe-sole material.

    A-Zoom snap caps rubber thingie

I was hoping to use it in another case. Sounds like it would not be in functional condition. I've seen hot melt glue used in the primer pocket.
