I added a large headed screw on each side so that the cable ends could be wired down. This is not a strength item, just keeps the cable ends from
slipping out.
I put my pistol in my lockbox a few days ago, shut the lid and locked it. Then noticed the cable had came out and was not even in the lockbox. Every time you open the lockbox my cables pops out of place. Seems like a neat idea!
Good idea, & I understand perfectly since I have a couple of this style. The cable doesn’t slip out on my security boxes, but they sometimes get pushed farther in and flail against the firearm(s) inside.
Funny I just something similar. I always worried that someone at the airport could cut that little cable and walk off with my gun. They have tools to cut locks.
I bought a used Pelican checked luggage box. And I used 4 copper rivets and gorilla Glued the case in.
The box is still fairly easy to defeat, but, there’s not as much room to pry it. And, it will take work to get it out of that box.
