    Happiness is...

Happiness is another gun safe - even if I strained my back when hauling it in 😅 Now the back is healed and there's again plenty of room for all the old toys, and for some new ones that should be on their way during the late winter or spring.

    Pellet Recommendations for Gammo P-27

Seriously, P-27 is one of the cheapest plinkers even within Gamo's standards. I own one and was quite disappointed after the impulse buy because the pistol has fixed sights and they were way off even at 10 feet. But then I installed an el cheapo laser on it and now the gun at least hits...

    ?? Trust "expert" YouTubers ??

Not necessarily. One can learn a lot from other's mistakes.

Have you ever sold/bought reloaded ammo?

I haven't actually bought or sold any reloads, and in general would not do either. AFAIK it isn't even allowed by the law where I live. But when I bought a Ruger SBH in 44 mag from a small shop where I've done a lot of business, the dealer gave me a couple of dozen reloads made by the previous...

Who regularly shoots a gun older than they are??

Depends on what is considered regular but at least annually I shoot a Luger, a Beretta model 35, some random Mosins, and a 1922 dated Swedish Mauser.

How much ammo do you have in your favorite caliber?

My favorite caliber is 22LR and at current pace I have enough to shoot maybe 3 - 4 years without a need to get more. But I will.

What's the oldest (by date of manufacture) ammo you've fired or own?

I have half a dozen boxes of 7.35 Carcano ammo, dated 1939. Each box contains three six-round stripper clips. Maybe some day I'll have the courage to fire some of them. Or not.

whats the hardest round you've loaded?

7mm TCU gave trouble until I found what brands of 223 brass work and which do not. Necks of the .30 Luger tend to bulge which prevents the rounds to chamber. After VERY carefully adjusting seating and FC dies I've almost got it into control, but still maybe 5 - 10% of loaded rounds has to be...

    What did you shoot today?

My reservist club's pistol range is now open again after winter. Still some snow on the ground but the weather is very nice. Was there tonight and shot my old Pardini SPE 22LR target auto and an even older S&W 14-2. Been shooting air pistols the whole winter but nothing beats the real powder...

    Weird/odd/unusually chambered guns

And quite a many, if not most M95s that stayed in Finland after the Russian Revolution / Finnish Civil War were later sporterized as moose rifles and rechambered to 8.2x53R or 9.3x53R. Back in the day it was illegal to hunt moose with calibers smaller than 8mm. The rule had nothing to do with...

    What did you shoot today?

As on many Sundays I shot my 22LR IHMSA pistols, an 8" S&W 17-6 and a T/C Contender. Off-hand and standing, of course :). The local silhouette range is pretty hopeless in clear winter days, the low-hanging Sun shines directly ahead. But I was able to hit even the turkeys @ 75m a couple of times.

How old do guns need to be to be considered OLD?

Second to that. I'm a Finnish gun collector and the least old gun in my certified collection is exactly as young as me - 62 years. I do own newer guns too :)

Have you purchased anything gun related in the last three days?

Two bricks (1000 rounds) of Norma Tac 22LR. Currently it's the least expensive .22 available here, 39€ per brick including tax. Standard velocity, very reliable and runs smoothly in my semiauto target pistols. Now if I only could find some Federal American Eagle! My .22 silhouette pistols love...

What are your Gun Goals for 2023?

To keep what I have. To shoot as much I possibly have time to. Have a small stash of ammo & reloading components, and ever diminishing time to spend on this God's green Earth. I'm out of safe storage space so I really can't acquire more firearms without serious investments, which at the moment...

How are the shooting finances handled at your home?

Married 36 years. We both work and the salaries of our main jobs go to two joint accounts. One is used for everyday household outlay and the other saving money for bigger expenditures. We are debt free. In addition I have my own account for the wages from a few side projects. They bring in...

Took my wife shooting for her first time today

Do a Google search with the name Antoaneta Kostadinova, nee Boneva. She's an Olympic class pistol shooter, and she is also right handed, left eye dominant, which hasn't hindered her career. Another left eye dominant pistol shooter who comes to mind is Roberto Di Donna. He won Olympic gold in...

    Why DON'T you reload......

I reload every centerfire cartridge I shoot. The reasons are many, for some calibers it's because the types of ammo I need (say, .30 Luger with LRN bullets) simply is not available. For some (like 6.5 Jap) it's cost. But in the end, I do like the idea of being able to reload them all, even if...

Can’t Shoot 4 Nothing, but Still Love Guns

I have never been much of a rifleman but used to be a decent pistol shot. Well, not any more. Losing eyesight and muscle power, more and more shakes over the years... getting old is not for the wimps. But I still enjoy shooting as ever. I have gathered a small collection of vintage military arms...

Do you remember your first shot?

My first shot with a firearm was in the Army, with a Valmet assault rifle, when I was 19. After the service it took some 20 years before I bit the bullet and started shooting pistols at a commercial range. It has been downhill ever since...
