    Converting a M-70 (M-99) to .410 shotgun

Hello, I have a left handed CZ model 3 (made by Montana Rifle Co) in .300wsm. It duplicates my M70 Winchester, so i would like to have it rebarreled to a 3” .410 shotgun, similar to the .410 Enfield conversions, but with a modern screw in shotgun choke. The bolt faces are both .535” and I...

Vaporware no more...Finally received the Diablo 12.

Seeing as I ordered it in March, I can't exactly give a ringing endorsement for the company, but they've finally made good. I'm off to get some primers...

    BP & Waterfowl hunting

I just read the single vs double barrel thread, and some comments on shooting ducks got me thinking about loads. I use lead 6 shot with a square load for pheasant and chukar, but what would be the ratio for steel shot? I’d probably use BB’s due to availability; but would like to hear what’s best...

WW2 Japanese rifle - what is this?

I love guns, and was at a friends house this weekend and he pulled this out to show me. I'm not well versed on Japanese stuff - I think it's a Type 30 (?), in 6.5 Jap, and that's about where my knowledge ends. This rifle was brought back from Manchuria by his father, along with a katana...

First Wild Buffalo Seen in Germany in over 250 years; First Wild Buffalo killed in Germany in 250yrs

This proves that some people just don't understand the need for conservation. "The World Wildlife Fund said on Friday it will be pursuing charges against a local official who, upon receiving a report of the first sighting of a wild bison in Germany in over 250 years, promptly ordered hunters...

    Cut down a Zouave?

I've wanted to get a Parker Hale musketoon for quite a while; but i haven't run across one that is in good enough shape and also in my financial wheelhouse. However, this past week i was on gunbroker and put in a lowball bid on an Italian Remington Zouave, and i guess everyone else was thinking...

Gunbroker underhammer auction - what am i missing here?

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=548739201 Currently bid up to $476 - WHY? I have one of these with an octagonal barrel in .45 that i use from deer. I think i paid $75 for it. What makes more than one bidder think this one is worth ~400 bucks more? I like mine, and don't...

Hugs and kisses from the business end?

Any idea about what these markings mean? I assume that my thread title is a bit off... I've seen various muzzles on BP guns marked with X's and O's before; I've never really thought about it much...but i just got a heavy barreled target .45 (w/ a Springfield 1865 lock) and it piqued my...

Got a call from Dixie Gun Works...

Why would they be calling me? I haven't ordered anything from them lately. Well, turns out the steel frame Pocket Remington I ordered in August of 2013 is finally coming in "sometime this month." They're honoring the then-price too; it's up $15 now... I'm excited. Any tips on the Pocket...

New Canaan CT will no longer issue temporary state pistol permits.

From News 12 CT I don't know if the Chief is pro or anti; but this is an interesting development. It is definitely an infringement on sane New Canaan residents rights to keep and bear arms. I'm not crazy, and I do think that the Chief has a sensible point; and, hopefully, this could erode the...

Suggestions sought for my underhammer project

Hello, Recently i acquired a brand new/old stock Deer Creek underhammer action in the white. The question is what to do with it next... I'm thinking that i'd like a golfball-launching, M-79-esque set up, perhaps with a brass barrel... but i'd also like to do a 12 or 20 ga barrel...which...

    Is this a forgery?

I was just cruising Gunbroker and saw this listing. I am inclined to believe that while the pistol is authentic, the shoulder stock is a reproduction that has been stamped with the pistol's serial number. However, the "1" doesn't have a serif at its bottom. Also, the wood patina on the stock...

Texas County to Feed Feral Hogs to the Homeless

http://news.yahoo.com/texas-county-feed-feral-hogs-homeless-192135479--abc-news-topstories.html First off, I think this is a great idea. Surplus pork chops and hungry people go rib-in-hand. I've wondered why they don't do something similar with the overpopulated deer in my neck of the woods...

Help me choose a crossbow. Difficulty: I'm a lefty

All the reviews i'm reading don't mention ergonomics of the various styles of thumbhole stocks as to ambidexterity, and there's no stores around here to go tire-kicking. Please help me out with suggestions of models that work well fired from the lefty shoulder, that will be accurate, and get the...

    NY State Bans Boar Hunting

Just saw this: http://nypost.com/2013/10/23/ny-bans-boar-hunting/ I understand banning the importation of pigs for hunting purposes, but as i read the article, it seems that all hunting of boars is banned... So, how is this going to effect the feral pig population already in-state...

So i was doing a little reccy at my secondary hunting spot, and saw this....

It's an 8-10" diameter Beech tree.... It will be my primary hunting spot until i see who made it. i've seen plenty of 2-3" saplings, but never a scrape like this. It must be from last year or the year before that...I hope he's still in the neighborhood.

    Detachable shoulder stock?

Recently i got a Pietta 1860 Army, that has cuts for a shoulder stock. I'm intrigued by the idea, but it seems that a new one costs more than the pistol itself! If i were to find one at a reasonable price, would it be worth it, or are they a novelty item? I imagine that it puts the hammer and...

Federal / USCG-required boat safety equipment now illegal in CT.

I was in West Marine getting ready for the sailing season, and this occurred to me... The Coast Guard requires visual safety aides - flares - on boats over 26 feet. Obviously, this needs clarification, but bear with me. Grenade launchers were banned already in CT, but now they've added "flare...
