Let's Unpack This Part 2... (2019 Great American Outdoor Show)

(Part 1 can be found here) Thanks for the kind words on Part 1 of this write-up. I'm not a professional by any stretch (though I used to be a paid political blogger), just a civilian 2nd Amendment enthusiast. Now, with that out of the way, let's get on with the rest of my experience at the...

History of Cartridge Conversions. Colt 1860/Remington 1858

Hello THR! I have been doing some research but find myself all too confused about percussion revolver cartridge conversions back in 1870s. I'm wondering if I could get a somewhat 'less fuzzy' answer as to what was the more prominent of the cartridge conversions in the old west before the Colt...

    Remington 7600 Extractor

Hi Everyone, disassembled a 7600 to change a broken extractor. Expected to just change out the clip style extractor only to find that this bolt has the rivet type. I thought the 7600's were all the new style. Was just wondering if some of the early models still had the rivet type or maybe the...

    Has Remington been saved ?

I certainly hope that the poorer-performing manufacturers like Remington get their act together. It would be a shame to see these legacy brands fail. BREAKING: Remington Emerges From Chapter 11 Bankruptcy: http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2018/05/17/remington-emerges-bankruptcy/

    Remington 58 reliable rapid fire

I posted this vid here about 7 years ago and had mostly positive comments except for my handling of capped cylinders outside of the gun.:what: Many people asked how I was able to keep exchanging cylinders because anybody that owns one probably had cylinder jam problems.here is my answer to...

    Rust Help!!

Hello all! I recently inherited a Remington .270 Model 700 from a family member and it is rusted pretty good. I hate to see it in such bad shape as these guns were always well taken care of until my grandfather was hospitalized.. So I would LOVE some advice on how to/what to use to clean it...

Question about the Baikal double rifles 45-70/30-6

Hi guys, I have a question about the Baikal double rifles that Remington contracted out. My understanding is that one barrel is fixed and the other has to be regulated to site up with it. Will shooting the rifle over time unregulate the barrel? Basically, will it need sited in every so often, or...

    Rolling Block ID

I inherited a Rolling Block from my grandfather. The thing is completely devoid of details. It has a bayonet lug on the right side of the barrel at the 3 o'clock position. There is no serial number, proof marks, or caliber indication. The bayonet lug and lack of serial numbers have me scratching...

Achieving accuracy with a Remington 700

I am currently the happy (enough) owner of a Walmart special Remington 700. With 168gr BTHP's it's shooting right around 1moa, and I'm sure if the shooter improved so would the accuracy. I'm starting to become interested in longer distance shooting, likely along the lines of 500 yards instead of...

Remington style sights vs Colt style sights

Since I've yet to shoot an open top Colt replica, I have a few questions for the "more seasoned" shooters here. So, between the two: Which sights do you favor and why? Which do you believe you shoot best with? Which types of shooting do the two sights have an advantage in (i.e. Colt is...

What would be the most obnoxious firearm to shoot at a range?

What would be the most obnoxious firearm to shoot at a range? Possibly something along the line of a Remington XP-100 chambered in .220 Swift with an extremely loud muzzle brake?

    Remington New Model Police

I recently discovered that Remington had made a .36 caliber revolver that was a lot like the .31 caliber pocket revolver. My question is were any of these at any point in the last few decades ever made by Uberti, Pietta, or other replica manufacturers?

    Please help identify this derringer

This pistol has no manufacture's markings except "1 255" on the heel of the grips and "255" on the underside of the barrel, which is only visible when the barrel is swung open. I'll attach as many pictures as I can. Thanks for any help or advice you can offer.

Cerberus, Unable to Sell Remington, Will Let Investors Cash Out

Very interesting article. I'm amazed that the Remington Outdoor Company is "only" valued to be worth $880M. Seems the market isn't bullish on the volume of future gun sales in the US otherwise it would certainly be worth more and it would likely have been sold by now. I wish a top-noth...

    770 or american

I just got lucky and my dad said he would go in half on a 400 or under rifle for my birthday. The 2 i was debating were the ruger american and the Remington 770. I looked at both and they looked very similar and felt similar. Both were also within 50 bucks. also they had 30-06 and 308. my...

Some Questions Regarding the Remington 700

It's interesting to read different peoples' attacks on Remington -- particularly with respect to the Model 700 rifle. If they have always been so junky, why are they the biggest selling centerfire sporting rifles of all time? Comparable Savage, Ruger, Marlin, High Standard, etc. have always...
