Well, there's a bunch a these threads. Just tossing mine in the pile. Traded some gift cards to a relative for this top break, black powder era IJ. Always wanted one of these. Now to get dies, cases, and lead bullets or a mold.

I use FFg and Starline.32S&W brass with a Lee die set for my H&R BP-era .32. If you already load other members of the cartridge family, just get the seating die. The rest is identical. Good luck and don’t leave any air gap.

Well components for reloading have been gathered, thanks to several generous members here.
Loaded up one test round, w/ no primer, to get the dies set up.
Hope to get some loaded before this weekend so i can test out the loads on saturday while out checking traps with my sons

So i got out and shot the 1903 IJ 32 sw.
•Bullets from riomouse, 100 gr swc
•22 lr case full of 3F goes black.
3 yd group was about 3-3.5 inches.
Gonna try wadcutters next. Hoot to shoot thats for sure. I may 1-1.2 gr of unique also.

Dang! All that flash and smoke gives it more intimidation value than I would have thought.

BTW, it's nice to see a place that's not all covered with snow. We just got a bunch of wet, heavy stuff here, and it's still coming down. That must be a pretty place in the the spring.

The real beauty of those IJs is that you can leave them laying around when the kids have friends over ... as the girl’s PJs declare: “Papa says it won’t hurt us”.

Here’s a shot of my .38 S&W IJ taken after a cleaning session ... she had belonged to my grandfather & though it shaves lead like a snow cone machine shaving ice, range time is always a special time.

Kids were smarter back then. Parents... not so much.

I’m interested in seeing more accuracy results and load tests with the old .32S&W. I still have a small amount of the stash of old black powder loaded .32S&W I found a while back and the empties are just begging for reloading. Unfortunately I have exactly 100 SPP left and I’m not using them just yet, so that makes me even more willing to enjoy the experience 2nd hand.

Loading with smokeless would be another fun adventure, though my favorite .32S&W pistol really ought to use black powder only to be on the safe side.
