100 years from now?

I try to be optimistic, I really do. However, with what is happening every day around us, from politics to the ecomony to the environment, it is becoming more difficult to be optimistic. My most basic benchmark is what I have seen lost. I went to my first gun show in 1961, which, I suspect, means that I've been attending shows as well as owning and collecting firearms longer than some have been alive. I don't want to sound like an old geezer, but it's increasingly difficult when I look back at what was at that first show I attended and reflect on that which is no more.

"Notice the fine anodized finish and the complete lack of nozzle scars. But you can't anodize prints? No, this piece was actually milled from a solid aluminum forging. They just don't make them like this anymore. Also, notice the surface finish of the furniture, the mold markings right "here", and where casting flash has been trimmed away *here* and *here*. They injection molded these back in the day, and actually hand trimmed the flash. Isn't that amazing? Nothing at all like a modern print.

Moving on to the next exhibit..."

...and here we have in this exhibit a near complete restoration of the early internet message board, The High Road, which has provided the basis of antique fire arms research complete with then living accounts of ancient and then contemporary firearms.

I think part of the love of classic firearms come from what we are exposed to in our youth.
John Wayne , the rifleman, and other movies and TV shows helped in building a love of classics.
It may also be shooting grandpa's, dad's, or an uncle's firearms.

With all due respect, the title of the thread is how we will look at guns in 100 years. Where did you honestly expect it to go? It was a good, interesting discussion. Now it's pretty much worthless. It's a bit ridiculous to talk about something that many don't believe will exist to discuss in the first place.
