Hi guys..

I am using a Hornady ND seating die for .40 & 10mm.. It is normal for the 10mm case to not go all the way in to the die like the .40 does right? That's the trade off to give you two calibers in one die correct? In other words you can not kiss the shell jaws to the die with a 10mm case in there no matter how far you back off the seating plug. It took a little playing with but it seems to be very repeatable even though I do not get a full press stroke.

Also, I do not have a case gauge for the 10mm but I do for the .40...I have been dropping them in the .40 Wilson gauge for a cursory check. Most slide right in after a light crimp and settle right on the ridge at the bottom of the case. Some however stick a very slight amount more then the others and will "snap" in with a little pressure. I have tried more crimp but nothing.. I can find zero differences between rounds that plunk in and those that do not. These rounds have RMR heavy plated 180's so could that be the issue? Some are just pushing on the mouth edge a little more than others. Would they fall into a dedicated 10mm case gauge?

Any issues firing these bad boys in my G29 Gen 4? All these rounds will fall right in the G29 chamber(one reason I love Glock barrels) even though this IS a fully supported chamber. (at least as glocks go)

Can't answer your question as I have a Dillon press. Mine sizes the 10mm fine.
I use either 180 grain Xtreme or Bayou. I'd suggest a $15 gauge to make sure. Some of mine don't drop flush into the gauge but plunk the 29 barrel. I don't think the Glock barrel is considered fully supported.
The 29 is my favorite shooting gun.

Thanks..Yeah its more like the "most" supported barrel...lol.. Anyway, My concern is the Hornady ND seating die..When set up for the .40 I can get a full press stroke but since the 10mm is taller it will not allow that. There is a "certain" spot in the die that cant be passed from what I can tell and you must adjust from there. Works perfect but just wanted to check to see if this is normal..

I don't think that's right. The die, like when sizing 40, should come all the way down on your 10 cases. You really want the sizing die to come within a hair of touching the shell holder on most any straight wall case.

Here's what I'd do... Completely remove the center stem with the decapper on it. It's most probably the decapper shaft assy that stopping the die. See if the travel improves or not. If it does, then the inside of the case was bottoming out on a decapping shaft set too low.

If that doesn't fix things, then send the die back to Hornady. I've seen one or two poorly machined Hornady dies come though on guys that bought new dies during the manufacturing rush of the last 3-4 years.

Hope this helps!

Are we talking about the bullet seating die or the sizer. It can be quite common for the bullet seating die to be well above the shell plate. Sizer go all the way down. The only concern on the seater is if your crimping in the same die. If you over crimp you can buckle the casing.
