My first batch of 30 carbine loads were worked up with Armscor projectiles, which requires the coal to be shortened up a bit due to a more blunt bullet profile, I load them to about 1.655". The RMR bullets I've just gotten around to loading have an even rounder ogive (blunter profile) On average the projectiles themselves are .020 or so shorter. My question is, for those that have used the RMR 110's, what coal have you loaded to? I had factory loaded Armscor ammunition that was all over the place on coal 1.649 on the short end to 1.666 on the long side and a few of those jammed into the lands. I know the actual answer is to put together some dummy loads and start working the length back...just wanted to get a sanity check before I start loading any quantity. Thanks!

You're going to have to do it at some point anyway, so why not start now? I'd seat one RMR with the Armscore die setting and see where that puts you. Use that as the starting point and adjust from there as necessary.

I bought a bag of those too, but haven't dug into them yet. Still using up some Berry's plated. They look like nice bullets in spite of the profile.

If you want the same pressure and velocity, you’ll have to seat the bullets .020 deeper so that the base is at the same place relative to the powder. If you aren’t concerned with having the same velocity and pressure, you can seat them to any depth that stays out of the lands.

Well...looks like 1.650 fits the chamber and feeds just fine. If I do not adjust my die from being set up for the Armscor projectiles, the RMR seat at 1.633. Thats .022 difference, which should keep the case volume equal. I think I'm going to split the difference and load the RMR's at 1.640 and try them out next to my previous loads. Just means I need to get out to the range here soon. The range Florida, in August, is not fun. I was hoping to just put up a mess of rounds, but I'll want to fire a few of these before I load up too many

My cousins and I went in on some last fall. Their's were loaded for their rifles, mine for my Blackhawk. I'll check and see what they loaded to but, like you they were seated to a functional depth, and loaded up. I don't even know if they have shot any since then. They just wanted some loaded rounds for their rifles. Mine just have to fit the cylinder so that ain't much help.

I do have around 1200 cases or so that I plan to load for my rifle soon so will be checking back.

Just finished putting together some dummy rounds. So, the plan now is to load these RMR's to the same COAL as the Armscor. Looks like they're on the lands at 1.680, there seems to be about .010 variance in the length of the projectiles, a bit better than the Armscor...those are all over the place. So 1.655 brings them back .015 off the lands with a .010 buffer....plus just makes things easier for me keep the length the same. I'll get over to the range this weekend and let you know how they run

Just got back from the range, RMR'S loaded at 1.655 and 1.665 both work great. Does not surprise me that Walkalong was able to load his at 1.675 with good results. In my chamber, the bullet is on the lands at 1.680. I think I'll stick with 1.665. Which brings me to another interesting point I found. The soft point bullets I bought years ago have a very similar profile to the RMR'S...and the Remington factory soft points that I have are loaded at 1.665. I also loaded some of the Privi Partizan soft point (@1.665) and those work great as well. All were loaded with 14.4g of H110. Did not get chrono data on this visit, but report, recoil and ejection all seemed to be on par with factory ammo. If I had to guess, I'd say that Armscor and RMR are trying to replicate the profile of a soft point rather than the classic Remington FMJ profile. Either way, I'm happy, and ready to pack a mess of 30 carbine

Well good deal, glad they worked out for ya. Like I mentioned, I have a bunch more waiting, just don't have the time right now to set up to load them. Won't be long though before things slow down enough for a weekend to simmer down and get something done.
