Is anybody shooting the 148gr .358 dewc from Rim Rock? I bought some bullets that look identical to them from my local reloading store. (North Georgia Reloading) They shoot pretty good out of my model 14. I haven't been by the store to ask if these were the same bullets that Rim Rock is selling. I was wondering if anybody here has anything good or bad to say about them before I order a couple thousand of them.

Have you tried Zero HBWC? Its about the only uncoated lead bullet I still shoot. Loaded with the standard 2.7gr Bullseye, my 8 3/8" Model 14 will shoot them in one ragged hole at 25 yards with the right person on the trigger. If you don't want Hollow Base, I would suggest trying Brazos 148gr WC. It HyTek Coated and shoots really accurate as well. Much cleaner than the HBWC, but for the utmost in accuracy I find the lead bullet to be the champ

I can't say anything about Rim Rock DEWCs because I've never used them - yet. But when it comes to SWCs, gas-checked, non gas-checked, SWC-HPs and regular SWCs, Rim Rock cast bullets are the only commercially cast bullets I use in my 38s, 357s, 41 and 44s.
They're real good people to work with too. If you have any questions, just give them a call. They'll tell you how many of whatever type of bullets they can ship in a flat-rate box.
Oh, and one more thing - all of the bullets I've bought from them come in those MTM plastic cartridge boxes. So you have a box to carry your reloads in. The only difficulty I've had with that is that it's impossible for me, with my fat fingers and short fingernails to remove a dozen or so bullets from a box of 50. I usually end up having to dump the whole box.:)

I also shoot rimrock swc bullets in several weights and calibers. I have no complaints and have reordered many times. I just don’t shoot full wc to speak about that specific profile. The 158, 200, 255 gr swc and 158 swchp-gc are all regulars.

I actually just got into loading .38 special. The ones I bought locally are the only ones I've loaded for .38. I've always loaded plated bullets for 9mm which is the only other pistol caliber that I load. I may give the zero hbwc a try. Thanks.

Thanks. I guess the question could have been a little more general in nature. If their swc bullets are good I'm sure their dewc are good too.

Sounds like the kind of people I like to deal with. Their prices seem to be super low. That and the fact that the ones I bought locally look identical to them and shot nice are what drew me to them. Thanks for the information.

I can say that loading bullets with my left hand in the press I have had the same problem trying to pick tiny 158 gr bullets out of the box. After a while my left hand cramps up! LOL. Need a good lswc bullet feeder.

The prices make it hard to justify casting. I’m still working 60-70 hrs a week. It’s easy to just buy from rimrock for now.

I saw that too. I don't have any casting equipment and with the price of lead it would take me a long time to start saving money on casting. Not to mention having 3 young kids running around it's hard to find time to load and shoot for more than an hour or two a week. Casting would take up a whole lot of that time. I am so glad I have that rl550 bolted to my bench to speed up the reloading process a bit.

If you are interested in Cast lead only and not coated, besides Zero, I've also had great success with GT Bullets. They are a little higher priced than some of the other lead bullets, but the quality is superb. One think I do like about GT is you can buy 100 packs to try. Of course it cost more than bulk, but at least you can try some different bullets and not wind up with 100's sitting around because you didn't like the way they performed. Not sure how many bullets I have laying around that I tried and didn't like for one reason or another.

In general I have found that if a lead WC bullet is not too hard, cleanly cast, and lubed with a good lube it will shoot more accurately than I can shoot it. Usually for me it is unit cost and type of lube. Now with SWC bullet shape/design also play into it. I like the Keith design the best. YMMV

I don't really have a preference on coated vs lubed. As long as I'm not getting a bunch of leading in the barrel and they shoot good I'm happy.
