Hi Everyone ,

A friend of mine asked me to check this out here
a buddy of his may be selling it .
He told me 1893 Savage but from what I have searched so far
it is a 1899 Savage the patent was in 1893
is that correct ?

Serial no. is in the 269### range would that make
it made in 1924 ?

Also if anyone can a price range from fair to good condition .

Thanks , Bill

Yes, that's a 99 made in '24.

There are a lot of variables, too many to give a value estimate based on that info. You need to get some photos together and figure out what subtype it is, then you can determine if it's been modified, reblued, or whatnot. Values on vintage 99's depends a great deal on their condition. Most of them were hacked or modified in some way, so the ones with original blue and no stock modifications are a lot more valuable than the "rats," as Savage collectors call the bubba'd versions. The best forum for info on 99's is here:

This is a good general info site:

this is one of the hottest old rifles selling right now. what is the condition, do you have any pics? the two most valueable 99's are the 243 cal, with the safety being on the lever itself, which is about a plus 50 percent value over other cals made in the same model, and the 250-3000 is the most valuable, with that cal usually being plus 100 percent more than the most valuable rifle of that model, in any other caliber. so we really need to model number, and the condition of the rifle.

It'll be like model b, c, f , g, dl, etc.
