I recently bought a DW 10mm CBOB.
While it has some issues, I am working through them. I am not very impressed with DW's initial quality or customer service, but I think it will be a worthwhile effort in the long run.
Perhaps your experience with Colt will be more satisfactory.

With high pressure cartridge like 10mm I would feel better with gun especially designed to handle it. Nothing against 1911 but I would prefer 1000 series S&W.

I had one of the first Colt Delta Elites that hit the market back in the mid 80's and it is still going strong with over 3000 heavy loads through it without one single problem. I like this pistol so much that I had purchased a new SS model this year, but have not fired it as yet. The 10 mm catridge is a great one and a handloader's dream.

I have a nice blued Delta Elite that I put some Esmerelda grips on. It's a blast to shoot and it sure looks nice. I would certainly recommend it. Not to highjack the thread, but orionengnr, what types of issued have you been having with the CBOB? I've been considering one for some time now and would like to hear about your experience with it and the company. You can PM me if you prefer.

If you're gonna run a 1911 in 10mm be sure to buy a dozen or so recoil springs and a couple of bags of Shok buffs. I have seen a fair number of Deltas that people shot with no maintenance until they beat the frame to death. It can be and has been done but it's asking a lot from a 1911 platform. The 10mm IS a GREAT cartridge but it's a little more than a standard 1911 was ever designed to cope with, at least in the original loading (Norma) and an awful lot of handloaders try to load the round very hot. It can be loaded down but then it's not really that much better than a .45 ACP.

How many problems would you expect shooting 120 rounds a year...

Congratulations, your math skills have promoted you to Rocket Scientist Grade II. Not to get into a spitting contest with you since I own many pistols, revolvers, and rifles and enjoy rotating and shooting them all. I keep reloading records of all my firearms and have been shooting in excess of 10,000 rounds a year (includes trap). Some of my firearms may only be shot less than 10 times a year like my 500 NE.

I had an early Delta 1911
200 factory rds & the slide stop broke
I said"good bye Delta" ////////////////////////////

Woosh...

I see my comment went right over your head, junior.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to tell that bragging on a piece that is seldom shot is lame.

I have my fair share of firearms as well, and I've shot my new DE more this year than you have in 25.

FWIW, I couldn't care less how many rounds you shoot in a year...

Hey guys, the name of the forum is The High Road. Have some more coffee, shake hands, and forgive and forget. :) I've got a Delta Gold Cup from '91. Don't know how many rounds have been through it but it is a good pistol.

I have two of the original Delta's, that have been customized by Clark of LA, along with many other 10mm, weapons, I have recently acquired the Kimber Custom Eclipse in 10MM after 800 flawless rounds thru it I have to say WOW,

I shot a DE the same day I shot my my Springfield Omega and love both but liked the 6in Omega better. I do want to get a Dan Wesson. I wish there were more options.
