1911 issued in 1914 —value?

I happened on an older gentleman at the range today shooting a Kimber .22 conversion on top of a nice vintage 1911 —issued in 1914 he said. He did not have the slide with him since he only shoots .22 now at his age (near 90 as best I could tell).
It did have the right look, frame shape, original grip safety type, smooth mainspring housing, armory proof markings. He said he would put the slide in his range bag for his next trip. Finish was mostly gone but had a nice shiny patina.

I guess my question is: IF the slide is matching everything I saw and is correct for the original model, what’s the value for something like that? Just ballpark. Is this collectible? Is it significant?

Probably any 1911 of that vintage will hold collector interest depending on completeness, correct markings and of course condition. For value, you might consult gunbroker's completed auctions for a rough idea.

I would think a 1914 Government Model with all the parts loose in a cigar box would command between $1300 and $1500. As always, better condition (finish and function to lesser extent) gives more price.

Just judging from gunshow shopping (and acknowledging that asking isn't getting), a decent Remington Rand was perhaps $900 not all that long ago. The same gun seems to be around 2 grand now.
Been wondering what the release of CMP pistols would do to prices.

Any USGI 1911 that’s in functional condition should be a $1200+ gun unless it’s been obviously modified with aftermarket commercial parts or refinished after it was surplused.
