In another thread, a member said they had 1911's chambered in 7 different cartridges. That got me to thinking, what has the 1911 been offered in?
Obviously, the classic 45 auto,
38super
9mm
45super
10mm
40S&W
380
22lr
357
44mag
Or, maybe the better question is, is there a pistol caliber the 1911 has not been chambered in? Has anyone ever seen or heard of a 9×18 1911? Sounds like an unholy alliance of Com bloc and classic US to me, but why not? Or 357 Sig, 22mag, 9mm Largo?
What are some obscure 1911s?

You've got a very broad approximation of "1911" there.

Add
9x23 Winchester.
9mm Steyr.
.45 HP
9.8mm Colt.
9.65mm FN.
.455 Webley Auto.

Rumors of .30 Luger
.30 Mauser Chicom conversion.

I had a 9mm Makarov conversion under design, but there was apparently only one shipment of heavy ball 109 gr Mak and it ran out before I could gather all the bits. I didn't think regular 95 gr would run reliably.

I have M1911's chambered in seven different cartridges. I might be the member mentioned by the OP.

45 ACP, 40 S&W, 357 Sig, 38 Super, 38/45 Clerke, 9x19, and 22LR are my current chamberings for M1911.

I know of 38 Special, 38 AMU, 400 Corbon, 22 TCM, 460 Rowland, and 10mm being chambered in "standard" M1911s.

I am sure there are some others.

Then there are the cartridges like 380 ACP that have been chambered in smaller hand guns whose design is based on the M1911.

455 Webley Auto...now that would be a cool one to have in the collection. Just did a little reading on the history of that one. P7110761-1.jpg
I'd love to try out a 460 Rowland or 50gi
Though, for practicality's sake, I'd probably purchase one in 10mm

No rumor.

I remember some Commanders that were made for the Italian market to skirt laws banning civilian ownership of 9x19mm handguns. I believe there were some .30 Luger S&W Model 39s as well.
You are 100% correct. Even some S&W 59 were chambered for .30 Luger for the italian market, as well as many other pistols like Lugers, Berettas, Walther P38, HK P9S, HK VP70Z, SIG-Sauer P220 and many many others. Here in Italy .30 Luger is better known as 7.65mm Parabellum. My father had a Browning HP35 chambered for this caliber and also a Beretta 92 (or 98). That was before the 9x21 IMI became the most popular caliber here.
Many 1911 Colts were also chambered for the 9mm Steyr. Some 9x21 IMI barrels are available to convert .30 Luger and 9mm Steyr examples.

I think STI made some in 9x25 Dillon (necked down 10mm case with a 9mm bullet).

Obviouslyy, if the thread is not stricly dedicated to the original Colt 1911, you can add 9x21 IMI to the list because there's a bunch of 1911 pistols from STI and other manufacturers available in my Country chambered for this caliber.

You can add .45HP to the list. That was another caliber made for the italian market only. It is a .45ACP with a 1mm shorter case.
You can also add 9x22 Fiocchi (also known as 9x22 Major) which was a wildcat developed by Fiocchi in the nineties. I'm pretty sure I have a pic in a gun magazine of a double stack 1911 made by Tecnema chambered for this caliber.
And also .41 Action Express.
