Hello
I have seen many model 17 K-22's in circulation lately.. I looked a very long time for a K-22 in Nickel, and could not locate one. I decided to send off this model 17-2 for a Nickel refinish. After I satisfied my LUST for a nickel model 17 I was looking for a shorter barreled model 18 to team up with it. At first I thought I may find one in need of a refinish and I could do the same Nickel transformation to it Like I did the 17. It seemed all I could find was very high priced model 18's so I decided to set my sights on a clean original model. I landed this one this week, and it was made in 1958.The only issue that kept this little sweetie from like NEW was a slight turn line. It also proved deadly accurate as shown. The grips are original as well. let's see your K-22's or there counterpart.. The "COMBAT-MASTERPIECE" Model 18.. Regards, Hammerdown.

Very nice find there. Combats aren't that easy to find as owners hold on to them with a death grip.
Are those stocks numbered to your revolver? I have never seen a factory Combat with Target stocks. You may have a special ordered model.

Hey Majic
Yup, They are original as I talked with the original owner. they were ordered with it. They did NOT number the Target stocks unfortunatley, Back then and it would have to be declared in a 30.00 Letter of which I am sending for as well. Regards, Hammerdown

Lately I find myself collecting S&Ws in pairs, buying a pre-model number example to go along with the newer numbered gun. So far I have a Model 10 and a M&P, a Model 18 and a .22 Combat Masterpiece, a 1950 Target .44 Special and a Model 24, and a Model 28 and a Highway Patrolman. Sort of fun.

My .22 CM was made in 1951 (has the funky transitional hammer) and wears the diamond Target stocks. They are not numbered and I have no way of knowing if they are original to the gun. I doubt it.

K22s are a blast. I like HD's nickel M17 so much I am thinking about send a badly worn M14 to Ford's for the same treatment. As a rule I never refinish guns but that one sure looks nice.

I just had this 17-4 at the range last Wednesday.

It's been so long since I've taken it to the range, I'd almost forgotten what a great shooter it is.

Hammerdown: Your 18-0, is very beautiful and, I just love those pretty factory diamond target stocks on it! Congratulations!

Hammer - beaut' nickel job - and I say that as someone who is not really a fan of nickel!!

Here is my C 1950 IIRC, pre K-22 - lovely gun tho I'd like to have diamond grips if truth be known. This one is not quite perfect but - still a tidy example.

This is the only picture I have of my 1965 vintage 18-2. It is one of my favorite revolvers.
