Okay THR, I've finally pulled the trigger on a 22-250. It's the Savage Model 12fv.

What kind of powder have you found success with? I've read some older posts say varget and H380. Any others?

What is your barrel twist and what bullets do you plan on loading?

Been using Varget for about 25 years. Never had a need to look elsewhere .

I've tried them all and the absolute best was IMR4007SSC. And ,of course, it's no longer made. So now days it's Varget and 50gr NBT.

I rarely pull out the 22-250 anymore though. It's long, heavy, and cumbersome. Built a 20" AR with a WOA barrel that will do everything, with a 40, that the 22-250 does with a 50. It is much shorter, weighs about half as much, and is amazingly accurate.

For 55 gr and under if you're looking for extreme accuracy and velocity, CFE223 is my favorite.

IMR 3031 for 40gr Nosler and VMAX work great for me. H380 works good as well.

I shoot 55g (Nosler BT, Hornady VMax, and Sierra GameKings). I’ve had good success with H4895 and IMR4064. Typically 1” groups or better at 100 yards (i am likely the limiting factor, rather than the load).

In my Remington Varmint 22-250, usually with 50-55 gr. hollow point or plastic tip varmint bullets, when groups are shot the smallest groups belong to Accurate 4064 powder.
I have used Varget, H380, W-W 760, and IMR 4895, but Accurate 40464 comes out on top for accuracy with good velocity.

26" barrel 1:12" twist heavy barrel. No bullets picked out yet, was hoping to get some suggestions on that here also. Will be used mainly for paper punching. Occasional varmints here and there.

I have H4895 on hand already for 120gr loads in my wife's 7mm-08 so good to hear that. IMR4064 seems to be popular suggestions also.

@Bfh_auto suggested CFE223 also, haven't seen that one suggested much for 22-250 but worth looking into

Thank you all for your input!!!

If you want a ball powder look at H-380. Varget and 4064 are 2 of my favorites.

When I had my 22-250 (I really miss it!) I always used IMR 3031 and Speer 50 gr TNT's. My barrel was a 1 in 14.
If I was to get another one, I would load the Nolser Varmageddon's and a ball powder for better measuring. I would consider CFE 223 or H380.
You're going to have a lot of fun with that rifle! Congrats!
BTW, Nolser Varmageddon's are on sale right now on Midway USA. I think $13.99 per 100.

The old load of 38.0grs of H-380 behind Hdy 52gr BTHPs works well in both of our 22-250s. I've never chronographed it, but once I did watch though binoculars as my wife "vaporized" a vole at about 40 yards with it.

H380 and Nosler 50g Ballistic tip, my best group ever out of my Shilen DGA three leaf clover at 300yds.

One brother uses that charge with a 55gr VMAX. Another uses 39 with a 52 gr Berger.
It gives up 200 fps to CFE223.
CFE223 is sensitive to temps and if loaded to Hogdon's max will blow primers in my rifle.

CFE223 gave me hard bolt lift with starting loads. Hodgdon's CFE data for 22-250 is WAY too hot imo.

Varmageddons are one bullet that doesn't get much attention but should. The 40gr tipped and the 62gr hp are 2 of the most accurate bullets I've ever used.

Nosler just does not disappoint in my experience.

I used Hornady data. It stops about where Hogdon starts.

With a 1 in 12 twist I would get the 40 gr tipped and load them to around 4000 FPS. That would be great fun! The varmints wouldn't like it much.

A little on the slow burning side, but my Ruger 77 does about as well with H414 as anything.
SMK 52 gr BTHP is best, but I have a supply of the odd little Remington Powr Lokt that is nearly as accurate and was a lot less expensive. No longer made.
