Good morning. I attempted to send you some information on chamber casting with Cerosafe (which I believe you are referring to) I put it into a "conversation" option I found by clicking on your profile but I can see no way to "send". At this point I do not know if you will see the "conversation" so???

Thanks, I don't see any conversations in my box. I know how to use the stuff and am ordering some.

Yes, these were new, that I bought 15 years ago, 25-06 Remington cases. I ran them thru a Full length die which I wouldn't do in the future. I maybe should have just neck sized them and trimmed to length. I was using resized Remington 30/06 cases, first full lengthed, then neck sized.
That is a big change in cases, which should have triggered a new work up with the powder if you did not have old cases to compare, and even then, backing off the charge is a good idea.
No need to switch from FL to neck sizing, you just need to measure where the shoulder is in a fired (Preferably twice or thrice fired) case, using full loads, and then set up the FL sizer to only move the shoulder .002 or maybe .003.

Using cerrosafe is pretty easy, looking forward to the results. Looks like you keep great records, which is great, and comes in mighty handy. I wonder if the original powder charge was lighter than listed. It happens sometimes, we're human.

Well, I finally received my NO GO gauge which it easily closed on. I screwed up and got a GO gauge instead of a FIELD gauge. If it took the NO GO I was interested in knowing if it would accept a FIELD gauge, not that it would matter. Now looking for a gunsmith to rethread and set headspace (or whatever they do). None local that I know of so I called the best, Griffin and Howe but they were a bit too pricey for me. That did drill and tap a Mannlicher 1952 for me about 20 years ago FWIW. Sorry for the late reply back but I've been on other projects. Hang loose.

ps. I didn't bother with the Cerro safe casting, the place I ordered the Headspace gauges didn't sell it.

Did you measure the primer pocket and primers that go into the primer pocket.

My 25-06 is a Ruger #1 with a generous chamber. I lose brass to loose primer pockets more than anything else.

Don't be so focused on case length, look at case diameter too. If things are stretching they stretch in all directions to fill the chamber. That includes the case head and primer pocket.
