Does anyone here see any issues with a standard 10 twist for 100 - 110 grain bullets in a 25-06? It is barrel ordering time.
Nope, tho if your manufacturer offers a 1-8/9 I'd do that just to have the option to use the vld types.Does anyone here see any issues with a standard 10 twist for 100 - 110 grain bullets in a 25-06? It is barrel ordering time.

Even Berger recommends a 1-9 for their 115vld.
The standard 100-120s will all stabilize just fine in a 1-10 tho.
This is not my first or only 26-06. I currently have a couple of others and this one is a new build based on a trued 700 action.. Considering the velocity range I am leaning toward the 10, but it never hurts to see other fellow's opinions. Thanks..
None of the majors do, and none geared specifically for hunting, but there are some boutique outfits that make heavier vlds. The precision rifle users like faster twist barrels for shooting heavier bullets at long range. I have fired many thousands of rounds of 115,117 and 120 grain bullets through 1:10 twist barrels and never had a complaint. I think accuracy from a 25-06 is more about the quality of the barrel. Bartlein barrels are top of the line and they only offer their 25 caliber barrels in a 1:10 twist. One of the many complaint's about 25 caliber rifles is the lack of bullet selection and I don't know of any bullet manufacturer who makes bullets heavier than 120 grains. .
Well since we are speaking of .25-06 , I bought the Savage 112V J series I was talking about on the .22-250 recent thread today. I forgoed the .220 swift sister as it had a little more wear, there was no scope or mounts and the caliber I didn't want to get into. The .25-06 , for the same price was in better shape , has a mounted on Redfield one piece mount a Burris 10x Adjustable Objective made in America scope with fine duplex in as good a shape as the rifle. The owner told me it has a riflebasex trigger as the original trigger "got messed up by making it too light " . the trigger feels crisp and around 3 pounds and of course is fully adjustable. The bore looks great and owner said he only put about 300 rounds thru it since 1980 ! I got 10 boxes of Winchester 90 grain ammo for it =200 rounds , which it is supposed to be sighted in for. I paid $300 for the rifle and scope combo and gave him an extra $50 for the ammo. We went to my LGS who is registering it for $30 to me. It takes 10 days to clear here . I researched these before I bought it and it has a 10" twist . I have had .25-06 and my favorite bullets were 75 to 117 grains with sweet spot around 90 grain althought the 115 Partition and 117 Sierra BT Gameking were standouts back in the day for antelope and mountain goats and caribou. I probably won't change barrel unless it is a dud , if it is I'll shoot up the .25-06 and go to 6.5 Creed as I allready have an AR10 one. I am gonna keep this a low buck long range gun if I can. More to come next month. FWIW I used to have a .257 Condor, actually it was a .258 Super condor and it worked with 160- 200 !!!!! grain spitzers out of a full length .300 H&H improved case with a 6" twist . It was a 30 pound monster built on a 1917 action with a huge 28" barrel and a huge 20x Unertl on it. It was made for and by Dr. Ramon Samovia, a local guy before my time around here. I had a bunch of his ammo loaded for it and the Unertl had load data and sight setting for the 160 and 200 grain loads glued into the backside of the Unertl scope caps. I doubt they actually were chronographed as we know it . It claimed 2800FPS for the 200 grain load and 3000 fps for the 160 grain load using BMG powder and custom swaged spitzers . I had fun with it in the 80s on huge Salinas cattle ranches with good ole boys who told good old stories. It got sold off about 15 years ago . so if you want to run 160 grain bullets in your .25-06 I think you will need a 1-7" twist Maybe Berger will make you some
