That seems like a good choiceYeah it became my .375

I know a few guys who make their 25-06 brass from 270 cases, and you’re right, they are long. But these guys say they like the longer necks and the 270 brass is stronger (probably true). The longer necks allow them to trim precisely and they prefer to neck size. YMMV.
Wow, you guys are talking some serious range. Perhaps I've underestimated, I was thinking my 18" 7-08 would be a 250 yard max situation. I was staring up the powerline the other day and I saw some movement on the ridgeline probably 350-400 yards about. I wouldnt take the shot because I'm not skilled or experienced enough with my rifle, but the way you guys are talking a 300+ yard shot would be no problem for a .308 or 7-08?
Well, that's the thing. If you know they are 350 yards out it's a chip shot. If you think they are 350 yards out it's a crapshoot.
Well I would not spring for a 300 yd. shot with a 308 unless I could not get closer. But if I could not get closer I would hoped to have zeroed around 3" high at 100 yds and then try to hold real steady, maybe just a little high of center. Without looking at the table I am guessing a 165 gr. 308 would be a few inches low at that range. 7-08 a little less so.Wow, you guys are talking some serious range. good point6.5. Very accurate, flat shooter, low recoil. Don't worry about the barrel life on a hunting rifle, unless you are doing something that requires a high round count like shooting prairie dogs every day.
Well I own both a 6.5 CM and 270 Win. So I am happy.
