well in all honesty my recent acquisition of a 30-06 has delayed my getting a 280AI. I will someday, but they kind of live in the same space so I'm not in a rush.

I do need to pick up something on the light end and being a lefty I can't be pinpoint choosy. Keeping an eye open for either a 25-06 or a 6.5x55. Unless you guys have another former wildcat you want to push me toward lol

There's that 6.5 creedmoor I heard about.... Looks like you can even find ammo for it... Might be worth a look.

I still want a fast twist .250 AI on a Remington model 7, or Kimber short action.....custom build of course, but pretty freaking cool imo lol.

Well...

Since you mentioned the .25-06... sounds like you aren't wed to a short action.

And if you also load?

The 6.5x55 is an elegant cartridge.

Call it a .270... light.

24" Bbl, though...

I've been saying for years that a custom rifle with the right twist and a long enough barrel, long action, in 6.5x55 might just be the best all around long range target setup ever.

All I can say is that after I got my 280 Ackley (Nosler M48 Custom)....I have completely stopped looking at bolt actions in gun stores.

Its the most consistent shooting rifle I've ever owned or shot, and I've shot a few.

Every load I've ever shot in it shoots around .75 MOA.... every single load.... even shooting 5 rounds using 5 different bullets, it'll shoot that same group, at 100 yards.... truly beats all I ever saw.

Had a 25-06 back in the 80's that was similar, but not to the degree that the 280 Ackley is.

I guess its as much the rifle itself as the round, but it sure is a sweet combo... being able to switch bullets and only have to use a different range card to go from deer hunting with 160 Accubonds or 150 Scirrocos to coyote hunting with 120 bullets.... no re-sighting in required.

Have mine set up w/ an aperture sight for field shooting.

Been disassembling PPU ammo at 200 yards to harvest brass for the 140 gr. Speer Grand Slam/IMR 4831 load program.
