You talk about not wanting to have a reloading capabilities due to moving stuff around. You can do it if you really want to IMHO. You can get a Lee hand press, a set of dies, the ram prime, and a Lee case trimmer. That and a box or two of bullets will easily fit in a shoe box sized container. Add primers and propellant and you can load whatever you want. To me that does not seem to be so much extra kit to tote around in my way of thinking. At that point you can make any special load you desire and do not need to haunt several stores hoping you can locate specialty factory ammo you need.

Remington Accelerator

For those old timers like myself you might remember the Remington Accelerator. In 30-30 they loaded a 55 grain bullet with a plastic sabot up to if I remember correctly 3000 fps. They also loaded 308. I have a few of those left in my cartridge collection. Using an H&R handi rifle in 30-30 I was shooting sub inch 100 yard groups with very little recoil.

Red Eye Fred,

....and .30-06 @ 4080FPS .

You can buy the sabot and place an appropriate bullet in it for reloading.

The .30-30 load velocity in your typical 20 inch Winchester 94 was actually 3400 fps.

During the debates over a proposed "assault weapon" bill in Florida decades ago the anti's trotted out the "high velocity" of the .223/ 5.56mm as a major bug-a-boo reason for banning ARs etc. I pointed out to them and the assembled press that the "ancient" 1894 Winchester could launch the same bullet at a HIGHER velocity and it apparently made the antis look like idiots to some of the press that day. Of course that only lasted until the next shiny object caught the attention of the press.
