I am using Lee dies on a Dillon 550B to reload .30 carbine. I am having a problem with the crimp. The mouth of the case is crimp too much and causing a raised ring of case. I've adjusted the crimp and still can't seem to get it right. I've ordered a Lee factory crimp and resizing the rounds I loaded. Has anyone else had this problem with these dies?
Thanks

The .30 Carbine headspaces on the case mouth so crimping should not be a good thing. On the other hand the only gun I have in that caliber is a revolver and crimping is desirable but I do not crimp nor do I use a powder that requires a crimp. I don't know of a .30 Carbine bullet that has a cannalure, and, without a cannalure it is difficult, if not impossible, to get a crimp that isn't bulged. In other words I wouldn't recommend crimping that cartridge. Chief aka Maxx Load

For this cartridge it should give a 'taper' crimp, where it basically irons the belled case mouth smoothly against the cartridge. I'm wondering if the die is a roll crimp instead of a taper?

I've been loading the 30 Carbine on my Dillon 550 using Lee Carbide Dies and just give the case a "kiss" of crimp when I seat the bullet and don't seem to have any problems with my cases. Sounds like you are trying to overcrimp your cases.
