I recently bought an SP101 in 327 federal mag and have 32 H&R mag dies I have been told they will work for the 327 fed. also is this correct?

Also what is a good powder and load for the 327 federal mag?

I have W231, Unique, HS-6, 800X and some others I can't think of.

Thanks,
GW

Should work, but you may want to get a spacer for the extra case length. I’m using the same does for all .32s from 32 acp up to 327 and I just took out all of the innards so that I just set my screw in depth on the press and change things that way. I can’t crimp the 32sw or the 32acp but they are so weak I don’t need to anyway, and I rarely load them because I’m using 32long and 327fm guns.

Make sure you are full length sizing the cases. At the pressures that FM runs at any chamber flaw will be very well fireformed into the case, so you need to remove that or risk stuck cases in your cylinder.

Yes, they'll do .327 fed, .32 Mag, .32 Long, .32 Short.

I want (need IMHO) a tighter sizer (And have it) for .32 ACP than for .32 Long & Mag, where I want a sizer that doesn't squeeze the case quite as much as a good .32 ACP sizer will.

The 32 mag dies will be a little short of full length resizing the .327mag brass since the .327FM are .125" longer. It would be like using 38special dies to resize .357 magnum cases and so on.
Would I do it? No, It would look to weird to me.
Will it work? Yes, you will be able to get them in your cylinder and fire them, but they may look a little funky being they are not full length resized due to the extra .125" in length of the .327FM.
Make sure the .327s don't top out in the 32 H&R dies.
My OCD would give me sleepless nights from this.

I haven't seen a .32 H&R die, other than the Dillons, that has a problem with .327 Federal. Standard die bodies aren't that short.

Oh well, she doesn't complain about the cost of my guns so I kept my mouth shut about her sink when we did the kitchen remodel as well as the appliances she picked out.
So your saying that 32 H&R resizing dies are long enough to do .327FM with their longer cases with the 32 H&R being at 1.075 and the FM at 1.2?

I know the sizer I use for .32 Long & .32 Mag (Use the same one) has room for another .125 easy.

Really! That means when I bought my .327 and couldn't buy dies for it, I waited for nothing. That figures. I remember the guns rags saying when .327 came out that everyone was waiting for dies and 32 mag wouldn't work.
I took their word for it and didn't check.

Tex, walkalong, West Kentucky, thanks for correcting me on this.

I just looked at my Lyman .32 sizer I use for .32 Long & Mag and it has nearly 2" up inside the die, not to mention however much case is still outside the die when sized.

I also checked a Lee .32 catch all sizer (I have two) and it had around 1 1/2" inside.

I waited on guns til dies were available because I wasn't loading any 32s yet. Then the gun supply was dry and it looked like 327 was dying off. Then I got a few 32s and eventually traded into my Taurus. I have Lee dies and already had about 200 sized cases when I got the gun. Only 32s I can't load with Lee 32long/32h&r dies are bottlenecks and rifle rounds like 32 win spl and 32-20. I wish I had jumped in earlier when the guns were being clearanced out.

Anyone have measurements on the Dillon .32 Mag sizers and how much length they have inside? Curious why they would make them shorter, I guess save a tiny bit on material.

I don't but I've talked to Dillon about it and it seems that their primer punch assembly is too short and hits the thicker case web. Dillon dies are shorter than most other die sets.

I just remember when I bought my .327FM mag there wasn't even ammo available for it. After I found some Federal ammo I was trying to get dies for it and all the people that were supposed to know said 32 mag dies wouldn't work. Being I've never owned a 32 mag I didn't pursue it.
Apparently times have changed or they didn't know themselves.
