I use unique, promo, & american select for my middle to low power loads, & aa9, w296 (h110), & 4227 for the stout loads. I shoot whatever projectiles are a good deal, lead, plated, coated.. and they all work fine. I've got some 140 tcfp with hitech coating i'm loading now, & they are great. I've begun to phase out lead, just so i don't have to handle it, & for the rare times i'd be in an indoor range where they don't allow it.

I'm in the 14-15g powder with the magnum powders. 7g of Am select under a 158g or so is a nice medium load that is pretty accurate, & you can shoot it all day.

I just use HP-38 for either .38 Special or .357 Magnum (as well as .45ACP). It's the most versatile to me. HS-6 is great for the hotter magnum loads, but I haven't bought any for some time. I'm not a "push-the-boundaries" kind of loader, so mild to moderate is fine with me.

Universal works well, too.
