Data:
240 gr cast LRNFP Magnus
21.5 grains IMR 4227
CCI Mag primers

To crimp in the proper place in the projectile, the OAL on these rounds ends up being 1.560 to 1.570. The manuals I am using called for 1.600 to 1.620. Am I going to have pressure problems? Thanks, Joel

No.

Published OAL for revolver bullets is meaningless, unless you have the exact same bullets they are talking about.

For revolver loads, you seat to the crimp groove, and crimp.

Whatever that OAL turns out to be is the correct OAL for that bullet design.

As long as the bullet weight is the same, there is enough fudge factor built into the load data to make up for minor differences in OAL.

That is going to be a fun load. I love 4227 @ 22 grains and a 240 gr lscw or lead rnfp. Have fun.. You are making me want to go shoot the Ruger SBH.
That is a good medium .44 Magnum load.

Max load is 22 grains so the start would be 10% of 22 grains. You are in the ball park, and rc model is an authority on hand loading. He would not let you do something that would put you in harms way. That's my opinion on his character from the board.

4227 does some of its best work compressed. I think he meant that a full case won't hit the max pressure.

I have always used 22 grains and it worked for me. Zero leading and real, real accurate.

As posted, roll crimp into the crimp groove and that is the correct OAL for that bullet. The small OAL difference isn't going to make much difference in pressures, but that is also one reason we always start low and work up.
