I purchased my first .44 special, a Rossi 720 covert. I added some nice factory wood grips that I found on gunbroker.com for $10. It's an awesome carry gun.

I've read many great things on this forum about the .44 special round. It's been a pleasure to shoot. I use Winchester Silvertips for defense.

Please post some pics of your .44 special guns.

Alright, here is a S&W 624 with Ebony grips, since I took this photo, I have replaced the factory front sight with a 14K Gold bead front sight.

The only 44 Special I have is a fairly cheap Charter 2000 Bulldog Pug, It shoots pretty well and is really light weight but it isn't built for longevity. But the price is right and seeing as it's my fly fishing gun I want something that I won't be so attached to when I take a dunk in the creek.

This is one of a pair of 1950 Target .44 Specials that were shipped in 1955 to St. Louis and New Orleans, respectively. They wound up in the same collection and were both returned to S&W in 1970 for work. One had its barrel cut to 5" and a smooth trigger fitted. The other one got 5" replacement barrel and also got the smooth trigger. Not sure why one was cut and one got a new barrel. Maybe this was the last spare barrel in inventory?

An interesting fact is that the guns are one digit off from being consecutively numbered (S140775 & S143776, exactly 3,000 apart). One is in bright blue and the other in satin. The one with the replacement barrel seems to shoot a tad better. I'll have to check the crown on that modified barrel.

Other one.

Here's my 3G Colt SAA in .44 Special. Yes, that's genuine ivory.

Here's mine...pleasure to shoot. I've recently begun reloading for her. Great boat gun. (fending off pirates and taking out the odd big shark.)

Man, I'd gladly arm wrestle you for that 5" 1926. Sought one for 30 years and finally gave up as I just couldn't bring myself to pay what people wanted for those things on the rare occasions that I found one for sale.

Here's an older version of the Charter Arms Bulldog. Three inch barrel, exposed ejector. Came with small wooden boot grips but I opted for Charter's rubber finger groove wrap arounds which make it a very nice range gun. The 2.5 inch version like Enkindlers gun with small grips is a good choice for pocket carry, need to get one of those as well.

No pictures, but I did pick up my first .44 special hand gun July 1st. It's a 3" S&W 624 about 20 years old and in pretty fair condition.

Here's a pic of my recently purchased Smith 296 .44 special. The gun weighs about 18 ounces. I took it to the range for the first time over the weekend and shot about 25 rounds through it. It has a pretty healthy kick to it but is pretty quick for subsequent shots. I love how the rosewood grips look on the gun, but the web of my hand was pretty sore when I was done so I might get some rubber grips for CC.

I would keep the wood grips for carry and get a set of rubber for the range. The wood grips don't snag on clothing like rubber. That's why I added woods to my 720.

Here is my backpacking carry. It is a Smith & Wesson .44 Special Mountain lite. It holds 5 in the tubes and weighs 18 oz empty. I love it!
