IIRC, Lyman used to make a 320 grain HP .458 mold. Been a long time, but my bud had the mold, the boolit was bit of a screamer in my Sharps carbine.

I used my Bud's Model 1886, .45-70 Winchester wih a cast .405 bullet over Black Powder to take a couple of PA whitetails a few years back. The range was about 35 or 40 yards, and the animals went right down with shoulder shots.

You must have a real easy going good friend to let you shoot BP in a 1886 lol. I would hate to try to clean it to give it back to him
