Took my 45/70 to the range

for some load development.
The gun is a Marlin 1895 45-70 that I had a longer mag tube put on.
The bullet is a 400 grain tumble lube with a gas check.
The mold is from Tom at Accurate.
I started at 35.5 grains of IMR 4198 and it did a little better than the 36 grains I shot today. I shot the 35.5 the other night and did not have a camera.

50 yards and supported.

It is a new Remlen. I think that it will do just fine between 35.5 and 36.5 so I am going to get a different target and shoot at 100 yards and then run them through the chronograph and which ever does best and has the most consistent speed will get the nod.
 
What happens @ 50 yards doesn't always equal double @ 100 yards. You need to shoot at 100 yards to verify.
