458 socom buffer?

I believe the 458 Socom was so designed to only need a barrel/bolt swap to shoot it in a standard AR-15. So I'd start with the standard carbine buffer that you have. After shooting it and if you see need for changes or there is reliability issues, we can help you then.

FWIW my Alexander Arms 50 Beowulf upper stated to use a solid rifle stock or a highly rigid extendable stock such as the ACE Hammer. It mentioned nothing of buffer size or weight. That being said, I've only shot it on an A2 stock with rifle buffer and wolf 5% extra power spring.

I have built 458’s with carbine, H2, and Rifle buffers that I recall. Pistol, carbine, mid, and rifle length gas. All of them have worked. I’ve successfully suggested AGB’s in all of them, as well.

My personal 458 currently is a 10.5” SBR, using an H2 buffer and pistol gas (and currently NOT an AGB, although it was originally).

Stock buffer will work fine. I have several thousand rounds through my SOCOM with no issues.

A rigid stock and decent rifle weight helps things too.
