Just curious if they will stabilize in a .222. Just finished breaking in the barrel and getting ready to start load workup. I expect velocity to be 3050-3150 fps. Nosler says yes, but I kind of have doubts.
Hoping that someone has used them or the v-maxs in 55 gr.
I will definitely be giving them a try anyhow, but with the shortage of components, I hate to fiddle around too much.
Thanks in advance, QM

Good question. I only know they stabilized fine in 1 in 12” twist .223 Rem. barrels. But the .223 picks up an additional 100 to 200 FPS over the .222. If I were in your shoes, I would load 5 rounds with my favorite powder load and see if they group. If they don’t, I don’t think you would have much difficulty in getting rid of them these days.

Is this a .222 or a .224? My 1:14 Remington 700 Stabalizes .224 Projectiles, but nothing heavier.

Give them a try. If they don't work. I have a pile of different 52 gr hollow points, 45 gr soft points, and 40 gr VMAXs.

Bob,
It’s a 222 Remington. Is that what you shoot?
I am thinking that if it was a cartridge such as 22-250 or one with more velocity, there wouldn’t be a problem. I actually would like to try the 55 gr Varmageddon, but being a little longer than the ballistic tip, I would be pushing my luck.

As Rkittine stated they will stabilize in a 1 in 14 twist.
I too have an older Rem 700 in 223 and they work fine.
Also heavier bullets will not stabilize in this twist as he also stated.
