66-5 Buy or not

I stand corrected. Thanks. According to the Standard Catalog, the 66-5s (MIM hammer & trigger) were introduced in 1998, but the year before, the 1997 66-4s were outfitted with a MIM trigger.
Yes, the 66 is my all time favorite revolver together with the model 27…so I took time to educate myself :) the 66 is the nicest shooting snubbie imho

I'd take it in a heart beat. I already have a 66-5 with 2.5" barrel that I bought in 2003. Had to change the grips but it is one of my favorite carry guns. Mine has never seen a diet of full house mag loads.

That’s a bargain. I bought a 66 2.5” off a local forum for $800 a couple of months ago and people were lined up behind me to buy it.
Mine has the wood grips.

This doesn’t but it’s a 66-5 so it has the uncle Mike’s rubber grips that I actually dig

The guns with the original grips tend to bring a premium, but even without them, you still got a smokin' deal.

Those rubber grips will be easier on your hands, especially with heavier loads. The Uncle Mikes are hard to come by anymore, especially in the shape yours look to be, and were always popular. A lot of the ones you see for sale were on police trade in guns and are often beat to crap.

My only beef with them is, they cover the backstrap and move your finger away from where it should be for DA shooting. The Hogues dont and are better in that respect. Their "Bantam" grips are another good choice for the snubby K frames and are a little less bulky.

For a lot of shooting with full power loads, the rubber grips are definitely the way to go. I just never liked them for carrying the gun, as they always tended to be bulkier and "grabby". Always really liked the factory Magna's and a T grip for that. I think they look better too. They do get old pretty quick with the hotter loads though.

I’m lucky then, I’ve got two pairs of uncle Mike’s grips, these and another I took from a 66-5 that I had sold a couple of years ago…
But I really like the wood grips like yours too in fact I ordered the Altamont super walnut service grips

Looks like the M66 in the original post has an earlier barrel; the dash 5 in post #43 has a pinned on front sight.

73,
Rick
Yes it does! Must be transitional and I like that quite a bit. The -4 barrels with the steel machined front sight always looked better to me

I don’t mean to be rude, but a stainless K frame , snub with a shrouded ejector rod …
$600?
I’m surprised you took time to log on and ask.

You are lucky it didn’t get snapped up.

Well, this time I’m not taking chances…

Y’all look what I found for 650$
It’s practically nib, fired a box of 38s and then put back in the safe. D2824FDB-D1EA-4117-8AFA-120F38617F0B.jpeg
