Anybody have a pet load for their 243 LBC (or 6mmAR) they like, using the 105 Hybrid or 103 ELD? I’m expecting 8208 to be high on my list, Hornady and Lapua brass.
I had been wringing my hands for a few years with a 6mm Grendel variant on my back burner, just couldn’t decide which one I wanted - or whether I wanted to be fenced into a proprietary cartridge at all - but I finally ordered a 243 LBC barrel on Black Friday.
Here’s a 105 Hybrid dummy I put together before I left for Mexico on business. Hoping to cook some work up loads next weekend and see how it runs. Had to order a new Redding seating stem too, to eliminate the seater ring around the ogive, which should get here tomorrow. Making the 243LBC work is super simple - Redding Type S 6.5 Grendel Bushing FL sizing die with a .269” bushing, Sinclair .241” expanding mandrel, and Redding 6ppc seating die, with VLD stem. No fireforming, no proprietary dies or single source barrels. I’m hoping to edge just over 2800fps with the 105’s, but we’ll find out soon enough.
That seating stem did do a number on the bullet. Looks like there was a real bad burr that was not removed after machining. I've had some bad ones but never that bad before.
Looking forward to the results. Look like it may be a fun round to shoot.
